Return to Learn: Adaptive Pause
Earlier this week, a message from the district was sent to all families sharing the news that we will be pausing our instructional model of the blended experience starting on Monday, November 23rd. This decision was made based upon the recommendation from the Kane County Health Department.
All students who were had returned to in-person learning will pivot to remote learning.
- At the elementary level, there will be no changes to the morning instruction, however, there may be some changes to the afternoon groupings. This information will be shared by your child’s teacher.
- Freeman will still have Material Pick up on Monday afternoon from 2:45pm-5:30pm. Students will have materials to pick up, so please try to get materials. Please note, if you or anyone you've been in contact with is positive with COVID or experiencing COVID-like symptoms, you should stay home. Please help stop the spread.
If the COVID-19 health data improves in the coming weeks, we would hope to phase-in a return to the blended model beginning December 7th; however, we ask that you stay tuned for further updates. Food distribution service at our eleven sites will continue as previously scheduled.
We will keep you posted with this information as it becomes available.
If you have questions, please reach out to Ms. Dvorak (630-301-5149) or Mrs. Righter (630-301-5139).
District communication has also been updated on the district website. Please continue to check SD129's Blended Experience Webpage for up to date information and current guidance.
Update on Blended Experience Selection
Any parent wishing to change their child's current instructional method from blended to virtual (or vice versa) for quarter three must make that request by November 30th to their child's school via email to cdvorak@sd129.org and melissa.righter@sd129.org or by phone to 630-301-5149 or 630-301-5139. Any changes made after November 30th may result in non-home school placement for blended instruction and placement delays for virtual learning. Thank you for your understanding in the matter as this advanced notice allows for us to finalize staffing plans and class rosters for quarter three.
Thank You Parents
I want to take a moment to thank you for all of your efforts. I recognize this year is like no other and we've all been presented with opportunities with which we may not prefer. Thank you for your continued support with your children and being the role model they need to see when change is presented to us. Thank you for taking the time and having the patience to work with your child and guide them. Thank you for reading through these weekly newsletters. There is a lot of information in them, and your attention to them is appreciated. Thank you for supporting your child's teacher as they, too, are learning alongside you and your child(ren) with much of this.
I think it's safe to say that we all have had to make sacrifices with some aspect of our current reality, but there really is a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful for all of your support and sharing your children with the staff. As we enter this holiday season, please be safe, be kind and do your part to help stop the spread.
Be well.
Ms. Dvorak
