News from Mrs. Diggs
Patriot Families,
It’s difficult to believe we have officially wrapped up our first 9 weeks grading period. If you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher for parent-teacher conferences last week, we strongly encourage you to contact your teachers to hold a phone conference. During conferences, teachers have shared individual student progress, Essential Learning Standards that are being focused on and taught to students and sharing of student goals as well as highlights. We are so very proud of the hard work and GRIT our students and staff have displayed thus far.
Speaking of GRIT, we have introduced our newest Patriot Focus Book, What Do You Do With a Problem, by Kobi Yamada. This book connects with our GRIT focus of Resilience. In the story, the character is presented with an unexpected problem that snowballs into additional problems. However, by demonstrating resiliency, the problem becomes an opportunity. Our Patriot Focus book holds many connections with our core value of Perseverance. We encourage you to discuss what it means to be resilient while persevering as you work with your student at home.
I am truly blessed to be able to serve our students, staff, and our Providence community. If I can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me by calling the school at 940-369-1900 or via email at jdiggs@dentonisd.org.
With Patriot Pride,
Jairia Diggs, M.Ed.
Boosterthon Fun Run is Coming Soon
At Providence Elementary, we are working hard to add to our classroom libraries as well as bring in flexible seating options for our students. We recognize that all students need access to various types of texts on their independent and instructional reading levels. Furthermore, we recognize that our students need access to flexible seating options as not all students thrive while sitting and working in traditional classroom seating. As a result, Providence Elementary will be brining back Boosterthon as a means of raising funds that will directly benefit all of our students. Please be on the lookout for Boosterthon information that comes home with your students next week. Our Patriot Community is ever so appreciative of all that you do to support our learning community.
