Big Hollow Game-Day Guide
Big Hollow Elementary School~ May 17, 2019
Last Day of School PTO Event
YOUT PTO will be hosting one assembly/show (combined for Pri/Elem) by the nationally known Jesse White Tumblers. The show is 30 minutes long and will take place on June 4th at 1:15 pm.
We were unable to coordinate times well enough for elementary to have an enjoyable science assembly. We will try again next year.
Technology Update
- Teachers should not move any school issued technology. All moves will be handled by the technology department.
- Chromebook carts will follow the teacher if you'll be teaching the same grade.
- If you are switching grades, you will be switching carts.
- Chromebooks will be moved after the technology staff checks the cart during summer work.
We will then take to our yearly summer procedure for classroom movement:
- Desktop Computers will be left in the classroom and not follow the teacher.
- This means that all of your files need to be in either the Google Drive, or your U Drive. You will no longer have access to your old computer's desktop.
- The teacher moving in will be allowed remote access to the new computer
- The teacher moving out will be removed from remote access
- The phones will be swapped and teachers will keep their same extension, assuming they are staying in the same building.
- All other school issued technology stays with the room.
If you are moving your desk, please be aware that the desktop needs to stay in it's location. The wires and cords are sensitive and bumping them too hard at the wall will cause them to break. If moving your desk will result in a need to move your computer, please put in a help ticket over the summer with dates and times you are available so that we can assist.
Please do not move any technology on your own. During the summer we have several checks that we do in each room, and need everything to stay put during this process.
All tech moves will happen before the first day of school. But some may not occur until August. We have not begun to look at our summer schedule nor coordinate it with the cleaning schedule.

Book Room Clean Up
I am requesting each team to take a morning meeting time within the next two weeks to help us get ready to organize the book room. Our goal is to fill that space with more guided reading sets, but we currently do not have enough room for additional books that have been purchased. Please work with your teams to make lists of materials that you would like to keep for your grade level and also list items that you deem as garbage or donations. Please provide Michelle with a list of keep vs. garbage. We will then disburse the "keep" materials to teams to put in grade level closets as evenly as possible. If there are items multiple grade levels want, we can order more of those particular materials to make sure every team gets what they need.
Thank you

FUTURE PLANS:
The PTO is taking the liberty of helping beautify our school by paying for quotes and murals to be painted in our school! There will be a quote by the gym that many of you have asked for, there will be a cafeteria "awning" painted above the cafeteria doors, and the student washrooms will be given some TLC. These projects will most likely be completed over holiday break. Be on the look out for these amazing additions to our learning environment! So exciting!
If you see a PTO member, please stop them and SAY THANK YOU!!! :)
