We made it!
We made it to our first week of school! Thank you to everyone who sent encouraging notes and emails our way this week. The adjustment to remote learning has had its challenges, but I was so happy to hear from students and parents who experienced a great first week of school. If you are struggling with technology, please reach out. We currently have a team ready to support you. It seems we’ve resolved many of the issues this first week. We’ll continue to adapt as needed moving forward. It is a learning process for us all.
Routines are a characteristic of school. As we build community and routines, these can release a child’s anxiety. I know that this new routine of remote learning is hard for some of our student to adjust to. As time goes by the routine of remote learning will become more normal for the students and should reduce stress and anxiety. If you continue to notice that your child is not responding and might be withdrawing, please call me or Jackie Rasinski, our School Social Worker, so we can work together to support you.
I was very pleased to hear from parents who were experiencing positive results with the increase in live contact time with their child's teacher. The teachers are working very hard to make this experience productive and instructional for the students. The Waterbury staff has really shown their dedication and commitment.
Not being able to see the students and connect with them at school has been challenging. If your student wants to send me a message or a quick video to show me how they are doing, please send them my way! Please title the email Waterbury Story.
If you have any questions or need anything please do not hesitate to call or email.
Within this newsletter, you’ll find the pictures of our new staff. We have highly qualified, well trained new team members that will do great things this year!
You’ll also find some information regarding our PTO. With our current environment, we are looking at virtual events, but we stay hopeful to have some in person events.
