Mindful Mornings
In the past, our students have gathered in the gym each morning, then run off to class as soon as the bell rings. About 5 minutes later, we have prayer over the intercom system. This makes it hard for our students to connect with the rest of the school as a greater community. Plus, many students come in late and disrupt the classroom during this sacred time.
To create a more mindful morning, we will start each day with prayer and the pledge of allegiance together in the gym. This will allow us to connect as a whole school to start our day, to join together in prayer -- which we know is so powerful--, and to start our day off in a more peaceful manner.
I am excited about this opportunity to connect with our students and know that we will see the benefits of this mindful morning as the year progresses!
How can you get connected at our school?
Watchdog Dads
Did you know that children whose fathers are active participants in their education are more likely to perform better on exams, achieve higher levels of educational qualifications, and to harbor a generally more positive outlook on school? We all know that fathers are a huge part of children's lives, but your influence in their education is equally important!
This year, I'd love to restart our Watchdog Dad program. As a Watchdog dad, you could:
* Choose a day to volunteer at the school. During this time you would: read to students, supervise lunch/recess, assist in classrooms, assist in the office, and supervise during pick up and dismissal.
* Choose a couple of hours to come in and volunteer.
* Supervise at school events.
* Perform a read aloud for students.
* Be a part of pep assemblies!
There are many ways you can participate in our school as a Watchdog Dad! Be sure to sign up during our Back to School night. There is something for anyone, so don't let your busy schedule keep you from signing up!
St. Patrick School
The mission of St. Patrick School is to develop young men and women with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. We stress the total development of each child: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical. Encouragement is given to students to bring their lives into conformity with God's will and plan, so that He is glorified.
