Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition
Encourages middle and high school youth, across the county to identify an issue in their school, neighborhood or community, create a plan to address that issue, and implement the plan. The goal is to encourage, support and reward the youth of Loudoun County for making positive changes in their own lives and the lives of others. This annual competition runs from early fall through late spring. This is great to have on any resume or college application.
- Identify and address issues around you that you believe could be better
- Develop crucial critical thinking, presentation and communication skills
- Learn planning and execution skills needed to affect community change
- Demonstrate community leadership
- Interact with judges that can include corporate leaders, government officials and members of the media

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS:
LCPS students interested in the 2023 Visual and Performing Arts Governor’s School must participate in our local preliminary audition for selection to attend the state level audition. The 2023 LCPS Preliminary Audition will be IN-PERSON, by appointment, on October 31, 2022, at Stone Bridge High School.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened Oct 1. Please take the time to fill this out even if you believe you will not qualify. Some colleges use the FAFSA as part of scholarship applications to verify information.

Senior Fees - Hey Seniors!
The system for paying Senior Fees has changed this year with the introduction of SchoolCash Online.
As a the parent of a senior student you should have received a message from SchoolCash Online requesting you to set up an account. SchoolCash Online When you have an account you will be able to see the obligations for payment that your student has.
The Senior Fees this year are $85 per student with an optional donation of $20. The fees cover the cost of Cap and Gown for graduation, senior tee-shirt that was distributed this week, meals at final graduation practice and other final year related expenses.

Lost & Found
Have you wondered where those found lost items end up? The answer is the SRO/Security Office (1125) in the Main Hall. We have all kinds of items to include, jewelry, MANY MANY Air Pods, keys etc. Come on by and see if your lost items have been found. Please also be on the lookout for others lost items and turn in anything found to our office or the main office if we are not available.
2021-2022 Indicator 8 Parent Involvement Survey
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is asking for families who have a child with a disability and adult students with a disability and are provided special education services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP) to participate in the 2021-2022 Indicator 8 Parent Involvement Survey. The online survey is now open and available for completion in English and Spanish at the following websites until December 16, 2022:

Families who have more than one child receiving special education services are requested to complete a survey for each of their children
Nurse News!
Dear parents/guardians as we enter cold and flu season and continued COVID, please keep your student home if they have any of the following symptoms.
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Cough
- Runny nose/congestion
- Fatigue
- Nausea/vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fever
Please remember your student must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication, in order to return to school. If your student has even one of the above symptoms, please consider doing a COVID test and send the results, positive or negative, to me @ robyn.wisti@lcps.org

RRPA Performance - THIS WEEK!
“The Trench” Performance – Wednesday, October 26th at 6pm – FREE. Support the Theatre Competition Team as it heads off to it’s first competition in Richmond at the Virginia Theatre Association. Their play “The Trench” is 40 minutes in length and is free and open to the public on October 26th at 6pm. There will be a talk – back immediately following the show.
Synopsis: The Trench is inspired by the true story of a miner who became entombed underground in a collapsed tunnel during World War One. As the horror threatens to engulf him, he finds that not everything in the darkness is what it seems. The line between fantasy and reality blurs as he embarks on an epic journey for survival, questioning what’s real, what’s not, and whether it even matters.
Warnings: This show includes loud noises and bright lights. Fake weapons are used in this production

The PSTD presentation is a Driver Ed class requirement and also mandatory in order to receive and VA juvenile's driver's license. This is the second and final presentation of the school year at Rock Ridge HS.

The PTSO wishes to extend a special thank you to Michelle Menna, SCA Sponsor, the student leadership and members of Student Council, along with Annamika Hacikyan, Student Activities & Engagement Coordinator, and the amazing team of staff who have played a part in making the Homecoming celebrations such a fantastic opportunity for our students! From the spirit days, hall decorating contest, pep rally, tailgate, Homecoming court, and of course the big event itself! The students have gone all out with school spirit filling the Pit and getting decked out for lots of fun to be had by all! We hope the students enjoyed the RRHS Phoenix Rising wristbands the PTSO provided and remember the principles of RISE ~
