4-5th-Students have just started research on one of the United States. We are featuring picture books of notable Black Americans each week and highlighting the state he/she is from.
Finally, all students will have an opportunity create a collaborative "quilt" of African Americans that we learn about together or that they can research independently on PebbleGo! Next. We hope to feature that quilt on one of our windows in the library.

Kid's Heart Challenge Update
Comets, we are just over one week away from our Kid's Heart Challenge event, and there is still plenty of time for you to sign up and take the challenge!
I am encouraging ALL STUDENTS to take Finn's Mission to learn about heart health, signs of heart attack and stroke, and learn hands-only CPR. If you, and your family, feel led to donate or raise money for the American Heart Association that is a great way to support this amazing cause as well. Most importantly we want everyone, parents included, to challenge themselves to MOVE MORE or BE KIND.
So far, we have raised nearly $11,000 for the American Heart Association and are currently the 10th highest fundraising school in all of Virginia. It truly amazes me to see the generosity of our Comet community and see us supporting such a great fight to end heart disease and help those with sick hearts. Our Comets truly are Heart Heroes!
