YVHS- News UPDATE

Week of September 13th

Message from the Principal

One Month Anniversary!

Parents and families, we now have been in school for one month! So far so good! With all the worries, challenges, and uncertainties of starting school and what it would look like, we have gotten back to a version of normal. Of course there have been some hiccups, Covid cases, and some staff shortages, but we are doing it! We couldn't have done it without your help. Thank you for being strong and resilient YV community. Every step forward is a step for our students and our community! Together we are building our YV!

COVID Testing -UPDATE

COVID-19 TESTING - NEW SCHEDULE

A new COVID testing schedule will begin on Monday, September 13th.

This schedule will allow the testing company to staff more nurses at fewer sites, minimize the disruptions of daily school activities on fewer sites, and address the new requirements of testing for high school athletes and others. As we find lines getting long, we will communicate with the testing company that will provide additional nurses. The MDUSD website will be updated on Friday of each week with the testing schedule for the following week.

The new protocols are as follows:

- testing is ONLY for MDUSD students/staff and athletes will have priority

- preregistration online is no longer required

- for the safety of those on our school campuses, staff/children with notable active symptoms (congestion, fever, vomiting) will be turned away and should be seen by your health provider or at one of the locations noted on the MDUSD website under "Other Testing Locations"

To accommodate parents, other family members, and the community, our partners at PMH Labs will roll out a Saturday walk and drive-up testing center on the Concord High School campus from 8 am to 2 pm beginning Saturday, September 18th. It will be fully staffed with nurses and parking attendants to speed up the process for those needing testing, including those who may be symptomatic with active symptoms.

We currently are short with staff in our attendance office. We are rotating our attendance duties to several staff members. Please ask for your continued flexibility.

To Report an Absence:

If your child is not feeling well and has any symptoms, it is best to be cautious even if you are unsure. Please have your student remain home. Now more than ever it's important to be cautious. Please call the office at 925 685-8414 extension 3605 so we can monitor and excuse your student. If you do leave a message on our attendance hotline, please make sure to:

  • Say your student's name clearly.
  • Say your student's grade.
  • Say the date of absence.
  • Explain the reason why your student is absent.
  • Say your relationship to the student (students cannot excuse their absences)
  • If COVID-related, please contact our school nurse at 682-8000 extension 3659

If your student will be absent for more days, please make sure to contact the attendance line and we may assist with contacting teachers for any missed assignments.
