JSU RIC Newsletter
OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2022
A Message from the JSU RIC Director
Welcome Back
October is here and November is creeping in. Before long we will change the clocks. I hope you are settled in and enjoying the fun activities of fall in our schools. My picture here is with my son who will be graduating from JSU in December. It will be here soon, and it just seems like yesterday he was living his best life in one of our regional schools in St. Clair County--- now he is graduating!
I want to THANK YOU for your participation in the RIC Needs Assessment Survey. We had the largest participation in the state with almost 1200 responses! I look forward to sharing that data with districts to help in structuring PD plans for your staff. Please see the new TEAMS offerings in our newsletter as well as SOUND WALL training coming in January.
In addition to the sessions that are open to all educators in our region (found on our newsletter below), we also offer targeted professional learning opportunities designed for individual schools or districts. Administrators, please contact the center directly via e-mail bcaldwell1@jsu.edu.
Continue to review our social media pages on Facebook (@jsuinservice) and Twitter (@jsuinservice) for ongoing announcements.
Best regards,
Brandi Caldwell

What is MTSS?
MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Pilot systems like Calhoun County have already explored what this means for them, and more systems will pilot the process this year. We congratulate several districts in our region who are involved. Congrats to Anniston City, Cherokee County, Etowah County, and Roanoke City!

Starting in January, the RIC will require that a Room Request Form be completed for your district to reserve a space. This is to help us expedite requests in a fair and timely manner. It also gives us data to report to the ALSDE regarding curriculum connections for events being held here. Thank you so much for using this form. You can also follow up with an email, but the request will need to be in the form.
