Grady College, Spring 2016

Career Consultant for Grady College

Samantha Meyer

Greetings, Grady faculty!

I'm looking forward to another great semester of working with Grady College and partnering to provide professional development opportunities for Grady students. I would be happy to visit classrooms to explain Career Center services or present on career-related topics, or present at student organizations you advise.

More information is below, but my biggest partnership with Grady College this semester will be collaborating with Ryan Carty on the Journalism and Mass Communication Career Day on February 10.

Please see below for details on Career Center information and events that could be relevant to you and your students, and please let me know if you have any questions.

The Career Center Offers Classroom Presentations

Don't cancel class! I am happy to visit your class and present on a career-related topic. I can present on developing digital portfolios, social media networking, resume and cover letter writing, job and internship searches, personal branding, LinkedIn and much more!

In an April 2015 survey I sent to Grady and pre-Grady students, participants reported classroom presentations as one of their preferred ways of receiving career-related information.

If you are interested in having me present on any career related topics to your students, don't hesitate to email me at Please plan to schedule at least one week in advance.

Grady Career Consultant Introductions

I am also available to quickly drop by at the beginning of classes to introduce myself and my role in the Career Center. I would be happy to briefly speak with students for five minutes or less on how I serve Grady students and the ways they can meet with me.

This may be particularly beneficial for pre-Grady students in intro classes, as I can help edit Grady statements of interest, and it is never too early to connect with our office!

Journalism and Mass Communication Career Day 2016

One of the biggest Career Center/Grady College collaborations of this semester will be the Journalism and Mass Communication Career Day.

Held on Wednesday, February 10, this day-long event connects companies and organizations with students seeking careers in digital, print and broadcast journalism, creative mass media, media sales, advertising and public relations. Internships and full-time positions will be available. All majors are encouraged to attend.

Grady faculty and staff are welcome to attend. Please see for a full schedule with discussion panel topics and locations. For any questions, please contact me or Ryan Carty, Grady College Director of Experiential Learning.
