Operation Beautiful - April 18th
Operation beautiful is a service project to build, encourage, and support both
young and mature women to have a positive self - image – to see beauty from the
inside out! The BJH Student Council would like to invite all the girls, ladies,
and women to participate in “Operation Beautiful.”
On Wednesday, April 18th, 2018, by wearing an “Operation Beautiful” t-shirt with
jeans and a “natural” look (no-fuss hair and make-up free!) you would be
“redefining beautiful one girl at a time!”
In addition, we will be spreading positive messages through post-it notes. These
notes are written to provide positive, inspirational, and encouraging
messages to young girls and women all around our community. The post-it notes
can be left in restrooms on mirrors, dedicated message boards, student’s desks,
daughter’s rooms, mother’s rooms, girl’s lockers, lunch boxes, etc. For more information, contact Stephanie Harris - sharris@brockisd.net.

Gifted & Talented Nominations
Brock ISD offers a Gifted and Talented program that is designed to meet the needs of those students who demonstrate a need for differentiated curriculum.
According to Texas Education Code, the definition of a gifted student is as follows:
In this subchapter, “gifted and talented students” means a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:
(1) exhibits high-performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
(2) possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
(3) excels in a specific academic field.
Any person can nominate a student. Nominations will be accepted through April 13, 2018. Participating in the screening process does not mean that your child will be assigned to the Gifted and Talented program, but it does mean that you feel your child has shown the exceptional qualities described above.
If you are interested in having your child nominated for the screening and identification process for the Gifted and Talented program, please fill out the attached forms or stop by the school to pick up the forms required.
Nomination forms or questions may be addressed to Stacy Jerrett.: sjerrett@brockisd.net or call 817-594-8017.

Outdoor Learning Center
Our primary goal of the Eagle Outdoor Learning Center is to enrich the curriculum and support project-based and experiential learning. We are currently in the planning phase of the Eagle Outdoor Learning Center but would welcome any community support to help get this off the ground and to fruition by the start of next school year. Click here for more information or feel free to direct questions/ideas/support to Nancy Beaty @ nbeaty@brockisd.net

Dress Code Concerns
There are a few things that need to be specifically addressed that seem to be consistent:
- Boys: The biggest concern we see is boys that have long hair that extends below the eyebrow but they push it to the side so that it is not in front of their eyes. This is not in compliance with the policy. If the hair extends below the eyebrows then it is too long.
- Girls: There are lots of cute tops that are being worn that have large v-neck cuts that are showing the girls undergarments underneath. There should be no undergarment item showing on the young ladies.
The Dress Code Policy has not changed since last year, but if you need to reference it, click here and then scroll to page 37. If you have questions, please let us know.
