Pine Cove 5th Grade Camp
As you know, this is the year for 5th Grade Camp. Pine Cove Timbers in Tyler, Texas is the site of this amazing outdoor learning opportunity for students. Students will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities that will develop their awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the outdoor environment. It is an extension of our classroom. The camp curriculum is aligned with the State and the camp staff is outstanding; and you can feel good about your child’s participation in this enriching opportunity.
A Pine Cove parent information meeting will be held September 24th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, but in the mean time, we wanted to give you some information so you can plan ahead.
- The dates for camp are Wednesday, November 20 through Friday, November 22.
- The cost for the camp is $153 per child and $20 transportation fee. Payment is due on Oct. 30.
- Students are supervised the entire time by camp personnel, chaperones, and teachers.
- If you are interested in being a chaperone and have not yet signed up, please contact Mrs. Baril at email@example.com (chaperones chosen at random mid Oct. and background checks must be done by Oct.1) Chaperone fee is approximately $75-$80.
- Students stay in nice cabins with a/c, heat, and private showers.
- All meals are included. Dietary restrictions are accommodated and can be designated here http://bit.ly/2vqKReU If you questions about dietary needs please contact Mrs. Baril at firstname.lastname@example.org

New Payment Programs for Frisco ISD
NEW SYSTEMS PROVIDE FREE ONLINE PAYMENT OPTION
Frisco ISD parents will have the option to make free online payments via electronic check for meals and other campus and classroom fees in the coming school year. The District is moving to two separate systems – SchoolCafé for meals and OnlineSchoolFees for other fees such as class t-shirts and field trips.
OnlineSchoolFees.com: Preferred method of payment for grade level class t-shirts and field trips!
Attached are the instructions for the new Online School Fees system. Setting up an account is free, and you can add multiple students.
Parent web address - http://www.onlineschoolfees.com/
There is a small fee associated with this new Online School Fees system if you use a credit or debit card for payment, but if you use an ACH check, there is no charge- NICE! Frisco ISD recommends that you use your checking account information for easy payments and no fees.
We encourage you to set up your free account today and be ready to pay for the $11 class t-shirt between August 13 and August 30. Other payments, such as field trips, will be added at a later time.
For meals, we are using school cafe: https://www.schoolcafe.com/FRISCOISD. If your child had money remaining in his/her account at the end of the year, it was transferred into their school cafe account. You will still need to set up a new account with your student's information in order access the account to add money, etc.
Here is the link to the Frisco ISD website that discusses both systems a bit more in-depth…
A Note about Choir from Mrs. Alleman
The Treblemakers Choir is open to all 4th and 5th graders at Smith Elementary, no audition required. We will begin practicing on Tuesday, September 3rd and will practice each Tuesday morning from 7:00 am to 7:40 am in the Music Room.
Choir is a wonderful opportunity to learn advanced musical skills, make friends, have fun, and perform for the community. We have many exciting things on the calendar this year, including a concert at LTHS in October, a Holiday concert, Arts in the Square, the Spring Concert, and a Texas Legends Basketball Game. The calendar may be found on our choir webpage. https://sites.google.com/friscoisd.org/music/treblemakers-choir
While participation in the choir is voluntary, students are held to a high standard of behavior as they are representatives of Smith Elementary. Attendance is mandatory for choir members and all students are required to maintain 80% attendance at rehearsals and attend all performances. Please understand that failure to follow behavior and attendance expectations both for rehearsals and performances may result in being removed from the choir. Please contact me when you feel that schedule conflicts may arise.
Our choir will be going paperless this year. All choir members will be added to a google classroom page where they can access their music to practice at home. To register for choir, please fill out the form at https://forms.gle/iMbGf7R7Rt2pmcat7.
You will also need to buy a choir shirt that the students will wear for all of our performances. We are using the same shirt as last year. So if you were in choir last year, and your shirt still fits and is in good condition, you will not need to order another one. Ordering will be done individually online. Please visit https://smithelementarychoir.itemorder.com/sale Ordering will close on September 22nd, at which point all of the ordered shirts will be shipped to Smith and distributed at choir rehearsal.
I am excited to work with such a wonderful group of kids this year. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
