A Note from Joanna and Lauren: We are Stronger Together!
Here we go! We are excited to welcome both staff and students back next week! The building has come together nicely. Lauren and I walk the building often and it is clear each of you have been working on creating a welcoming, organized, and amazing environment for your students. Thank you for ALL your hard work! It has not gone unnoticed.
Please feel free to wear purple or Central Road spirit wear on Monday, August 16th. We have ordered additional purple Central Road polo shirts. If you do not have one, please stop by the office to pick one up for yourself.

Our PTA is holding a Back to School event on Monday, August 16th from 5:00-7:30 pm. They have secured a Funnel Truck and menu items will be available for purchase. Families will be able to 'grab and go' or stay to eat. Mask wearing is not required outside therefore optional at this time. Please feel free to stop by if you can but we understand this is a busy time of year as we prepare for the school year.
To limit exposure to both allergens and SARS-CoV-2, students will not eat snacks in the classrooms again this year. We will be offering both breakfast and lunch to our students again for free. If you feel your classroom really requires a snack, it must be eaten outside. I would ask that you tie a snack break into a read aloud or another activity that can be conducted outdoors to preserve student learning time. Currently, we are tentatively scheduled to conduct SHIELD covid testing on Fridays from 8:45-10:45 am. Students (who opt into the testing) would not be able to eat about 45 minutes prior to testing so please note this in your weekly schedules. Testing will be begin on August 27th and we plan to have more information as the date gets closer.
Students will be able to bring water bottles to school again this year. We will not be providing the little water bottes again like last year. The water fountains have been turned on for water bottle refilling.
Free, optional breakfast will be served in classrooms upon entry each day to students who would like to participate in breakfast. Unfortunately, we will not be able to send home breakfast for the week like last year. Breakfast will be served between 8:30-8:45 am and our school day will promptly begin at 8:45 am. Student supervision during breakfast will be conducted by our program assistants as teacher duties do not begin until 8:40 am. We continue to work out details with Megan, our lunch coordinator. More to come next week.
Our lunch hour this school year will take place daily from 11:50-12:50 pm. We hope the one hour noon hour will allow for our staff to have some common time together. Students in grades kindergarten (Mrs. Sarli)-3rd will eat for the first 30 minutes and then play outside from 12:20-12:50 pm. Students in grades 4th-6th will participate in recess first from 11:50-12:20 pm and then will eat their lunch from 12:20-12:50 pm. Students will begin the school year eating in their classrooms 3 feet apart. Starting in September, small groups of students will transition into eating in the cafeteria on a rotating basis while maintaining 3 feet of distance when doing so. Hand washing before and after eating will occur every day. This school year, lunch will remain free for all students. However, students are welcome to bring a cold lunch from home. Specific schedule is linked below for your review. If you have any questions, please contact Joanna/Lauren. We are happy to make any updated adjustments.
While outside during recess, students will not be expected to wear masks. Students will begin the school year playing in designated areas/zones with their classmates. We will offer each classroom an opportunity to play on the playground equipment throughout the week. Recess equipment (ex: jump ropes, balls) will be acceptable for use as well. Each classroom will have a bin of recess equipment they will be able to use each day. Please label your equipment with your room number if possible.
Our PBIS Boot Camp-review of expectations-will tentatively take place on Friday, August 20th. Schedule is forthcoming next week.
Please enjoy your official last weekend of summer. We look forward to a year filled of learning, growing, and being flexible together!
Certification-Staff and Students
Students will certify in the same way as they did last year. We are waiting on cards and lanyards for students. As soon as they arrive, we hope to pass them out at Meet the Teacher.
