Message from the Principal

Greetings Findley Community,

We made it to the end of what was no doubt an extremely trying year for all; families and school staff alike. I attribute our community's resilience and persistence to the remarkable group of parents, students and staff we have here at Findley. From the bottom of my heart, thank you; for all you did to ensure our school community could navigate safely through this difficult year. I hope you are all set to enjoy a lovely summer.

Our Leadership Team is already looking ahead at next year, and to that end, I have news some share. Next year, we will kick off the year with a series of community building activities and lessons designed to celebrate & honor our diversity, individual identities, learn about our strengths and assets and others while cultivating our school-wide community. Our goal is to learn more about ourselves and about each other, so that we can serve the entire community with more efficacy and empathy. We will culminate our community building with a whole school Community Cultural Fair, scheduled for the evening of October 13. More info will be shared as we get closer to the start of the year.

As a part of this work in growing our understanding and knowledge of the diverse community we serve, we need your voice! The past two years, we have held a series of Family Input Panels. Our goal with these family panels is to hear from our families about ways in which they have felt bias, as a result of something the school has done, or not done, learn about our blindspots and to hear about your expectations of us. These Family Input Panels have been extremely valuable to our learning as educators. While I don't have specific dates for future Family Input Panels yet, I am seeking to hear from our folks who would be interested in participating. If this sounds like an opportunity you would like to be involved in, please indicate your interest on this form. My hope is to have more than one panel next year, and allow for a wide variety of voices to heard.

My wish for our school community this summer is that we all find time to rest, relax and recharge for the new school year. We deserve it!🙂

With gratitude,

Sherry Marsh, Ed.D.

Science Fair!!

We will need at least 4 and preferably 6 members for the Science Fair Committee. If anyone is interested to join, please let me know at mitra.poulami@gmail.com.

  • The biggest commitment from Science Fair Committee members will be during the day of the Science Fair and the night before. Generally Science Fair is during mid-March (before spring break) although there have been requests to have it after Spring Break.
  • The second big commitment will be a day or two during Jan-end or Feb-beginning when we review the project submissions from students.
  • Besides these, we have 3 planning meetings - one each in November, December, and January.

Thanks to the 3 parents who have agreed to participate! I hope a few more parents will join!
