Class Syllabus & Expectations
Class Description
This course studies the development of theater as an art form. An emphasis will be placed on theater history, theater genres, and theater terminology. Students will gain knowledge of the origins of Greek theater as well as Asian and modern American theater. They will also learn stage terminology and be exposed to the physical stage. Students in this course will be required to attend one live performance at a local theater outside of school. THIS COURSE REQUIRES MINIMAL STUDENT PERFORMANCE.
Units of Study
Unit 1: What is Theater?
Students will learn about the components of theater & the different roles that people play in the world of theater. They will complete a group project on the different roles/careers available in the world of theater and present this to the class.
