Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
Happy Valentine's Day! We had a wonderful day today with your children. Our read around activity gave students an opportunity to hear the book of their choice read to them by a Lions Park staff member. All the books had themes of kindness or friendship. Many thanks to the PTO for fun and memorable Valentine's parties. The students' joy was so evident in every classroom as they made crafts, played games and distributed cards to classmates.
While the weather is very cold today, February has so far brought temperatures ranging from below zero to fifty degrees. With the weather continuing to change frequently, we appreciate your continued efforts to help your children dress for the weather. On the days when the snow is melting, it can get very wet on the playground. It may be a good idea to send your child to school with dry socks and pants in their backpack. The office does not have enough dry clothes for all the students who get wet. We are looking forward to better weather soon!
Today was an early dismissal for students, but teachers and other certified staff members are spending the afternoon doing professional learning. The focus will be on ways to help deliberately strengthen relationships in the school community. Lions Park hosted the PEPS meeting on Wednesday night. While not directly related, this article was shared about how to help kids learn to have a conversation with peers. While the article is specifically geared towards helping students with social skills issues, many of the tips might be helpful to all children.
