MCAA Rocket Report
Greetings MCAA Families,
The past two weeks brought an exciting House Challenge and time to dive deep into instruction. Students came together to design Peace Paths to support conflict resolution. We also used mid-year assessment data to drive instructional shifts and add additional supports where needed. Map results were posted to Aspen on January 26th for your review. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Congratulations to our Lego Robotics team who took home a win at Super Regionals. They will compete for State at the University of Georgia on February 10th. The 23-24 Reading Bowl team did an exceptional job at the district competition bringing home a 2nd place win! Finally, our NCTC team had a great showing at the North Central Technology Competition bringing home multiple wins in Digital Game Design, Internet Applications, 3D Modeling, and Project Programming.
In the coming week we will get to see our Drama Club's production of Annie, Jr. These kids have worked hard since August. Don't forget to get your tickets now and come see them shine on stage at the Marietta Performing Arts Center next weekend!
Finally, a big congratulations to our very own Mrs. Nelson for being chosen by her colleagues as this year's MCAA Teacher of the Year! We are incredibly thankful for the ways in which Mrs. Nelson shows up for our staff and students daily! Keep soaring Rockets!

A Note from Nurse Kirby
FLU, STREP, COVID, OH MY!! The MCS population is experiencing what everyone in the community is experiencing - many cases of strep, flu, COVID and the stomach bug. If your student is sick, KEEP HIM/HER AT HOME! Remember that a student MUST be free of fever, diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours WITHOUT the help of medicine to return to school. Remind your student to wash their hands frequently and sneeze into their bent arm. We are doing our best here at school to keep everyone healthy and continue learning. Please do your part and keep your sick students at home!
Congratulations to Dr. Elkins and Ben Eason for being honored as our January Gem Award recipients! Dr. Elkins wears many hats at MCAA as our instructional coach, MTSS coordinator, Spelling Bee Coordinator, and so much more!! She supports our staff and students in all they do! Ben Eason is a 5th grader at MCAA. Ben is smart, talented, and determined. He excels academically and is a friend to all! Way to go Rockets!
