WELCOME BACK!
The school year is off to a good start, as the students have had a successful two weeks of learning to kick off the 2019-20 year. We started the year off with a morning blast-off on the first day, as we recognized the new teachers, paraprofessionals, and students that joining us this year. The students were also allowed to take part in a “Rockin’ Recess” in the afternoon on the first Friday of school where they participated in a variety of fun activities.
New staff that are joining the Adrian Elementary this year are: Mrs. Lexi Lynn (Preschool), Mrs. Christine Thorson (music), Ms. Devyn Meyer (Intermediate Title I), Ms. Danielle Kneip (student teacher in Ms. Wiertzema’s room), Ms. Jean Robson (paraprofessional), Ms. Rachel Snyder (paraprofessional), and Mrs. Stacie Dohlmann (professional). We welcome the talents these individuals bring to the Adrian Elementary School and look forward to utilizing them in enhancing the education of our students.
In the upcoming weeks we will begin to partake in our mandatory fire and lockdown drills, so if your children come home talking about the activities, feel free to engage with them in conversation and ask what actions they take in the specific situations.
In closing I want to remind everyone that we thoroughly enjoy working with the students at AES and look forward to seeing the progress they make over the course of the year!
Mr. Schettler
FAST Testing
We are working on completing FAST testing for grades 1-5. Please look for your child's results in his/her Friday Folder next week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher, Mrs. Henning, K-2 Title Teacher, and/or Ms. Meyer, 3-5 Title Teacher.
Bus Reminders
If you will not be riding the bus in the Morning, please call
Jerry at 507-227-4623 before 6:30 A.M.
If you have a set schedule and there will be a change in that
schedule, a note will be needed to be sent regarding the change.
Bus notes must include the following information:
o The date
o Name and where the student is going
o Parent signature and phone number
Bus notes must be brought in to the office before school and the student will be given a bus pass for that day.
If you are calling the school with a change to your child’s regular form of transportation, please do so by 2 P.M., so we can make sure the appropriate people can be notified.
Any preschool student who is riding the bus needs to have a Bus Buddy who gets on and off at the same stop as the preschooler. If a preschooler does not have a Bus Buddy, they will not be allowed to ride the bus that day.
Health Office Updates
Due to a change in the Minnesota Department of Health Medication guidelines, the health office will no longer have stock medication available. Elementary and Middle School students can send an unopened bottle of Tylenol or Ibuprofen along with a parent permission form to be kept in the health office. High School students are allowed to self-carry Tylenol and Ibuprofen with a signed parent permission form and their signature agreeing they will not share the medication. The Over-The-Counter Medication form is available on the district website.
Second, I wanted to let families know that this year we will be offering the flu vaccine in school on October 22nd. A consent form will be sent out the beginning of October and you will only need to return if you are wanting your student to receive the flu vaccine.
Lastly, as the new school year has begun I wanted to send out a reminder to be checking your children for head lice periodically. As well, please remind your student to not be sharing hair ties, brushes, or hats.
