PHMDC E-Update

Public Health Perspective
Why should we be concerned about Zika Virus?
Put a whole piece here, like a blog, written by Janel about a topic.
Yada, yada, yada, words, words, words. More and more text here, just to show an example of this being a bit more of a lengthy piece and how much room it might take up. Janel would have this section be almost like a blog, with her thoughts about a specific topic of the month. It would always be written by her, and it would be scheduled at a certain week of each month, just featuring it monthly.
What's New?
In Community Health
Recently, a staff member came to Carl and talked about a project they wanted to work on...
This is a place to let all staff know what is going on in two different divisions monthly. The following issue, in two weeks, would feature the other two divisions and what's new with them. Not to be a super lengthy feature, just a general update or highlight of one specific thing, or several smaller things.
In Environmental Health
Just last month, something happened that began a chain reaction in our division...
Again, this is a place to let all staff know what is going on in two different divisions monthly. The following issue, in two weeks, would feature the other two divisions and what's new with them. Not to be a super lengthy feature, just a general update or highlight of one specific thing, or several smaller things.

Public Health People
Marissa Thomas is glad this year has been considered a "mild winter." She's also thankful to have gotten to know amazing friends and colleagues since she arrived here last October. Originally from St. Louis, and coming to us via the CDC, Marissa is here for two years as a CDC Public Health Associate, working with Tobacco Free Columbia Dane County Coalition. She's responsible for outreach and education in Columbia County in the areas of youth prevention, smoke-free multi-unit housing, and general community education about new tobacco and nicotine products. She says she is excited to see "many great policies being put in place from the education the coalition provides," and hopes that, soon, "all tobacco products and electronic delivery devices are banned in all indoor and outdoor public places."
Marissa lives in Sun Prairie and enjoys attending sporting events and concerts, appreciates the abundance of local restaurants here, and says she's "looking forward to trying all of the food carts at least once."
