I'm crushing breast cancer, are you with me?
Suzannah's Story
I have been busy over the past few months, having resigned form L&T and taken a leap of faith in to a new position suited to my skill set. All is well with my new position at Goldfish Swim School and our construction is surprisingly on schedule! (woot woot!) Our grand opening will be in early June! I would love to see you there this summer!
I am writing to you for two reasons, the first to share with you that I have recently been diagnosed with skin cancer, a malignant melanoma, and will be undergoing surgery and exploratory testing for metastasis on Friday, April 10th. I have every reason to think that I will live a long healthy life as my Surgical Oncologist is the best on the East Coast located right here at Johns Hopkins. She specializes in Breast Cancer and Cutaneous Melanoma. Herein lies my second reason for reaching out to you- I have been the healthiest woman in the waiting room on many Oncologist appointments over the past few months. I have witnesses many strong women fighting for their lives, in wheelchairs, having lost hair through chemotherapy and looked in their pallid faces of hope. 40,000 women will die of breast cancer this year. I think Cancer is cruel and the concept of thousands of women fighting for their lives every day makes me sick.
I've made the decision to crush breast cancer by participating in AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer on May 2-3. It will be two days and 39.3 miles of sore muscles and blisters, but I'm ready to take on the challenge! I am walking with my sister, Katy Hulse, and we have named the team "Blister Sisters”!
HELP ME GET TO $1,800 IN 20 DAYS!
Part of earning my 39 is fundraising $1,800 (WOW! a huge challenge) – a critical part of this challenge that requires me to face my fears about asking for donations. The money raised through the AVON 39 goes to fund important research and community programs both locally and nationally. This is about saving lives, and I'm ready to do my part!
I can accept donations up through April 30th. No amount is too great or too small. With a minimum fundraising goal of $1,800 I will be thankful for any gift you are able to give- all gifts will help save lives!
To make a donation, use the included link to my personal fundraising page. It's quick, easy, secure and preferred to donate online.
