Eagleside Elementary

Weekly Update---August 20, 2023

From the Principal...

Students jumped in and worked hard this past week to practice routines and expectations in classrooms as well as across the building; they are doing a great job with this! Teachers are starting to administer beginning of the year assessments to determine students' strengths and areas for continued focus. These assessments will help drive instruction in ways that meet student needs and allow us to hit the ground running with content.

Some reminders below: (from last week, but still applicable)

Students who are eating breakfast may arrive as early at 7:05 am. Students not eating breakfast may arrive to the main part of the building and head to their class beginning at 7:10am. First bell rings at 7:25 am with the tardy bell at 7:30 am.

Kindergarten and 3rd grade students enter through the double doors between the main entrance and the kinder playground. All other grade levels enter through the main front entrance. We ask that all parents say goodbye to their children either in the 'kiss and go' lane or when they walk them to the front. We do not allow parents into the building to walk students to class.

Our "kiss and go" zone is meant for students to quickly exit cars. In order to help with traffic flow, please pull all they way forward in the line and do not get out of your car. If you need to exit the car with your child, please park in the parking lot and walk them across our crosswalk. Thank you for you support!

Please read on for updated information on breakfast and lunch, communication practices, and much more.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Communication

In order to support our staff in creating a work/life balance and to honor time with their families, we are implementing a new practice at Eagleside this year. We will respond to messages and communicate with families between the hours of 7:00am and 4:00 pm, M-F. Any message left for staff will be answered by the end of the next school day. Please know that if you send a message to staff during the day, they may not respond immediately as their first priority is their time with your children engaging in teaching and learning. If a message is sent after hours, it will be responded to the next day. All professional communication will be through a phone call, in-person meeting, district email or Remind.

See the flier below for our upcoming event dates; we are hosting round table discussions about grading, offering more opportunities to join our morning meetings, and much more!

Our main office is open from 7:00am-3:30pm M-F and we can be reached at 719-382-1520. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Laptop Fees

Just a reminder that all 4th and 5th students will be assessed an annual laptop fee of $40 for the first child and $20 for each sibling. This is reflected in Infinite Campus. Please see our parent/students handbook (on our website) for more information. Students will have a charging cord checked out to them as well; failure to return the cord at the end of the year will result in a fine to cover the costs of replacement.

Sign up for an account with Revtrak to see/pay all fees for your student. Please contact the front office for more information.

Kristie Chapel--Budget Secretary

I'm Kristie Chapel the budget secretary! I've been with Fountain Fort Carson school district 8 since 2020, and this will be my first year at Eagleside Elementary. I grew up in Colorado! I have a wonderful husband, a beautiful 8 year old daughter, two dogs, and a cat. When I'm not working you can find me outdoors enjoying everything Colorado has to offer, catching up on the latest movies/TV shows, trying new restaurants around town, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends. I'm so excited to be joining Eagleside Elementary!

Alexis Herradura--Special Education Secretary

Hey! My name is Alexis Herradura, Special Education Secretary here at Eagleside Elementary, where I’ve proudly served for 3 years now. I was born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. My husband serving in the Army, now retired, brought us to colorful Colorado, where we’ve called home for the past 4 years. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family (table for 6 please), traveling, and training in Jiu Jitsu, but the greatest of all these is Love. Looking forward to a spectacular new school year with my Eagleside Family, rising to every occasion. Eagleside Rising Strong, We Belong!

Barb Jaramillo--Registrar

Hello Eagleside family!! My name is Barb Jaramillo and I am excited to be your new Secretary Registrar. I am born and raised in Southern California and moved back to Colorado earlier this year. My previous experience is in banking and I've ventured into a school setting after some time living in Germany. My family and I have lived the military life for more than 17 years and we've been fortunate to have amazing experiences. In our free time we enjoy going to the movies, travelling to new places and checking out all the local shops Colorado has to offer.

It's been a pleasure meeting the Eagleside families and I can't wait to see what this incredible school year brings. I look forward to meeting you all and help provide a positive experience for your children.
