Orders are due by 9am on Monday, September 14th.
APEX FUN RUN COMING TO RIDGEVIEW ELEMENTARY IN SEPTEMBER 2015!
Dear Parents,
We are so excited to announce that our school will be participating again in the Apex Fun Run this year as our major fundraiser! The Apex program will be with our students from September 21st to October 2nd teaching leadership and fitness as we raise pledges to help our school. Please look in your child’s folder and for e-mails that will be sent to you from your teachers as the fun run gets nearer.
Please feel free to visit www.apexfunrun.com to learn about this interactive program that helps schools all over the country raise money, while promoting leadership and fitness. This year's character theme is Apex Dream Team, where students will join Johnny Dreamer and the Apex team in an exciting journey to learn what it means to become a Dream Team Leader:
o Dive In!
o Resourceful!
o Elevate Others!
o Attitude Check!
o Make A Difference!
During the Apex Fun Run, students are challenged to get pledges for the laps they will run on Fun Run day to help our school. Students will run for 30 minutes and will run an average 26-36 laps, with the maximum amount of laps being 36 (each lap is 1/16th of a mile). Sponsors can pledge $1/lap, $2/lap, $5/lap, or any other amount for students. All students will receive their own pledge kit with an individual access code that allows you to enter pledges online. All students will receive Apex wrist bands, Apex race-day jerseys, and team awards. We will need your help in the following four ways:
· Help connect your child to potential sponsors and help them acquire pledges from family, friends and contacts.
· Ask your child about the “Apex Dream Team” character lessons, and download the FREE “Apex Fun Run” App!
· Come to the Apex Fun Run and don’t forget to invite others to attend our fun-filled community event.
· Help volunteer for the race! We need a few parents to help cheer on students and mark laps. If you would like to volunteer for your student’s race, please contact Lianne Rice at slrice14@gmail.com
Thank you again for your continued support of Ridgeview Elementary and we are excited to begin this journey with you!
Sincerely,
Becky Wilder, Principal
and Ridgeview PTA
The 16th Annual Run in the Dark, benefiting Community Storehouse, is scheduled this year for September 19, 2015 at Alliance Town Center's Bluestem Park.
More than 3,000 runners participated in the 2014 Run. Each year, more runners join the event, participating in the one-mile fun run and 5K and 10K races.
Whether you choose to become a sponsor, volunteer your time, or put together a team to run, you are helping at-risk children in the greater Keller community. All proceeds from the event go back to children in our area, providing essential services to prevent hunger and provide educational support, resources, and stability.
The schedule for this year's event is:
4 p.m. - Registration/Packet Pick-up
5:30 p.m. - Food Trucks On Site
7 p.m. - 1 Mile Fun Run
7:45 p.m. - 5K/10K Start
9 p.m. - Awards
Discounted rates are available to friends and families who sign up with their child’s school! To sign up and receive a discount for Run in the Dark, choose to register under Schools/Storehouse Cup. (http://www.runinthedarkdfw.com/2015-waiver-form/) This will take you to a form where you can sign up to run with your child’s school campus and receive a discounted rate. Not only do you receive a discount, but your t-shirts and bibs will be delivered directly to your child's campus, making it easier for you!
The campus with the most runners will win the coveted “Storehouse Cup Trophy.” This will be the eighth year for Community Storehouse to award the trophy to the school with the highest participation. There will be two trophies awarded: one for Elementary/Intermediate and one for Middle/High Schools. A school team consists of children and adults who register under their school’s name. Also, a free gift is included for all who register in the 10K/5K or 1 Mile Fun Run!
Entries must be received by Friday, September 11 to be counted toward the school competition. If your school has at least 50 runners, the Community Storehouse will award your school with a special gift of appreciation.
Join with the Community Storehouse and help make this event a success!
