STAFF FEATURE
SUE JORGENSEN
MARY KAY MCNEILL EARLY LEARNING CENTER - PARAPROFESSIONAL:
I am a Special Ed Assistant for the Preschool For All Program. I have been with the Preschool program and District 34 since 2003.
About Me:
We built our home here in Antioch in 1997. Our daughters, Emily and Rachel, were in grade school and then graduated from ACHS. Bill passed away in 2011 and my District 34 family kept us strong. I was blessed with a granddaughter, Audra, in 2020. She is the light of our lives. I have two granddogs and recently rescued a deaf cat, Bella. I enjoy gardening (I so miss working in the Hillcrest garden), being outdoors, painting and cheering on my Packers (I'm originally from Green Bay).
Experience:
I started out working for the Head Start Program in Green Bay and had various jobs in many fields over the years. After having my own children, I became involved with education through volunteering at their schools and church. Also while working for District 34, I put in 10 years at Wal-Mart.
Why I started working in schools and at D34
Timing and opportunity brought me to District 34. I've stayed all these years because I felt I made a difference and a connection to the children, their families, and our District 34 family. The work is both challenging and rewarding. I can't imagine doing anything else.
