School Board Calls May 7 Bond Election

The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted Tuesday, Jan. 18 evening to call a bond election for May 7, 2022.

Trustees approved the community-led Bond & Growth Planning Committee's (BGPC) recommendation of a $267,885,000 bond proposal which will be presented to voters in three separate propositions on the ballot. If approved, the bond election would include an increase of 1.5 cents to the district’s interest and sinking tax rate.


The BGPC co-chairs Leslee Shannon and Rich McDowell were honored at the meeting along with other members of the committee in attendance.

SPIRIT SQUAD TAKES SILVER AT STATE!

The Argyle Eagle Spirit Squad had another memorable trip to the UIL Spirit State Championships in Fort Worth. Argyle High School finished second overall for the second consecutive year in Class 4A Division I.


Argyle's Spirit Squad, which has been a state finalist every year since the competition began in 2016, is composed of 20 varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders. The competition includes three categories - band dance, crowd-leading cheer and fight song.


"We're super excited that we were able to defend our place from last year," AHS Cheer Coach Laura Truebenbach said. "The cheerleaders work so hard and put so much into this, and it's an amazing feeling to walk away with a silver medal."

School Board Approves 2022-2023 District Calendar

The Argyle ISD School Board approved the 2022-2023 school calendar during Tuesday's regular meeting. The calendar is structured very similarly to last year's calendar. The first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 15, 2022. The last day of school is May 19, 2023

Argyle ISD will be off the week of Thanksgiving and the winter break will be held from Dec. 16 to Jan. 3 for students. Staff will return Jan. 2.


Spring break in 2023 will be March 13-17.

AHS Band Members Earn All-State Recognition

The two-time defending state champion Argyle High School Band added some individual recognitions recently. The band earned eight all-state honorees. These students prepared for two rigorous auditions in December. They will represent AHS at the all-state clinic and concert Feb. 9-12 in San Antonio. Congratulations to these talented Eagles!

School Board Approves Name of New Elementary

During Tuesday's Board meeting, the Trustees officially approved the name of the new elementary school in the Canyon Falls community. It will be named Argyle South Elementary School and it is the third elementary in the school district.


Argyle South Elementary, located at 118800 Denton Creek Blvd., will serve grades pre-kindergarten through 5th grade and will open for the first day of school in August 2022.

AHS Student Honored at Fort Worth Stock Show

Congratulations to Argyle High School junior Avary Sanchez! She recently participated in the Chisholm Challenge at the Fort Worth Stock Show and placed 4th and 7th in the Western Showmanship and Western Showmanship Supported. This marked Avary's second year at the competition for children and veterans with disabilities.

Argyle West Hosted College & Career Day

Argyle West Elementary fourth-grade students recently had the opportunity to listen and learn about college and future careers that might interest them. The campus hosted an event that included a college and career panel and engaged with students. The panel included former Eagles, and those attending various colleges in the state and outside Texas.

AHS Choir Hosting Concert Series

The Argyle High School Concert Choir has received the prestigious honor of performing at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention next month in San Antonio. This is the highest honor a choir can receive in the state. The AHS Concert Choir is the only Class 4A school in the state to receive this honor and one of only four Class A-4A schools to earn this honor in the past decade.


Concert Choir has been working incredibly hard all year long to prepare for this program and in preparation for their trip, they will be performing preview concerts around the metroplex. The Concert Choir would like to invite the entire community out to Flower Mound United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 25 for a concert beginning at 7 p.m. The concert will only last 30 minutes and it will be the debut performance of their program titled "Through the Storm."

Attention Parents of Freshman-to-Be

Argyle High School will host Incoming Freshman Orientation on Monday, Jan. 24 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Parents and students are encouraged to attend to learn more about graduation requirements and the course selection process. This event will be held in the AHS auditorium. AHS is located at 6601 Canyon Falls Drive.

Hilltop & West Elementary Bus Riders

Hilltop Elementary and West Elementary bus routes will be running 10-20 minutes early on Friday, Jan. 21. This is due to Argyle Intermediate School being closed for a UIL competition and the buses not making this stop. Please plan to be at your child's bus stop early for pickup.

COVID-19 Cases - Reporting & Dashboard

Argyle ISD is providing a COVID-19 dashboard to keep parents, staff, students and the community aware of the positive case totals at the campuses. The dashboard is updated by 6 p.m. each school day. The numbers are based on only cases confirmed through documentation with campus nurses.

School Board Trustee Election May 7

May 7 will also include a School Board Election. Two seats will be on the ballot - Place 6 and Place 7. These places are currently held by Brad Lowry (Place 6) and Jeff Williams (Place 7).


Applications can now be submitted for the Board Election and more information can be found on the Argyle ISD website. Click HERE for the Trustee application packet. The deadline to file is Feb. 18.

Lady Eagles Remain Undefeated; Eagles Earn Road Win

The Argyle Lady Eagles (27-0) remained undefeated on the season picking up a big district road win on Tuesday at Decatur. The Lady Eagles defeated Decatur 58-42 to improve to 7-0 in District 7-4A.


The Eagles also defeated rival Decatur 53-42 to remain undefeated in District 7-4A action. Argyle improved to 21-6 overall with the victory. Both teams are in action Friday when they host Lake Worth. The Lady Eagles start at 6:15 p.m. and the Eagles play at 8 p.m.

Lady Eagles Supporting Former Lady Eagle Greats!

This week the Lady Eagles' basketball program went out and supported two former Argyle standouts. Former Lady Eagle greats and now Texas Tech Lady Raiders Vivian Gray and Rhyle McKinney were in Fort Worth as Texas Tech faced TCU. What a great night supporting their hometown stars! TCU defeated Texas Tech 51-50. Gray finished with eight points and McKinney had seven.
