Memorial Day Reminder and Assembly

There will be no school tomorrow, Monday May 30, 2022 in observance of Memorial Day. Please take time on Monday to remember our service men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. Military.

We took time out of our day on Friday to gather as a school for this purpose. I had the privilege of attending my first Memorial Day assembly organized by Mr. Benjamin Hanchett and the Student Council. This year, Brian Bethke Chief Warrant Officer-4 USMC (Ret.) spoke to our students about leading a purposeful life of service and sacrifice. He challenged our students to live a life of service and sacrifice while describing his personal story. We thank him for sharing his authentic story with all of us. I apologize for the lack of photos, I was trying to be respectful of the ceremonial significance of the assembly and did not have a phone to take photos. I encourage you to ask your student about the assembly.

Mindfulness Minute

What is your favorite color? Look around. See if you can find that color. Is it on your clothes? is it behind you? Is it in front of you? For the rest of the day keep a look out to notice when you see this color. (Be Mindful Card deck)

COVID At-home test kits

This is a reminder that the COVID at-home test kits were distributed on Thursday. If your student did not receive their test kit and participates in the At-home test kit program, feel free to send them to the Main Office to pick up their kits. This includes any senior who would like to have a test kit for next week.

CLASS OF 2022 -- Senior Week is here!

Graduation Practice will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 AM - Noon. There is no practice on Thursday since the Senior Awards Ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM.

Baccalaureate will take place on Tuesday night at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium and is an optional event. Students and families will be treated to a night of celebration that includes student speeches and performances. There is a limit of two guests per family. We ask students to dress in business casual attire. PLEASE NOTE THE TIME, an email that went home had the wrong start time.

Senior Awards Day will take place on Thursday morning at 10 AM under the tent in the stadium. Students will wear their gowns to this event where we will celebrate their academic and athletic accomplishments. The Masconomet Regional Scholarship Foundation recipients will be announced at this event as well. Although we strongly encourage all senior students to attend, this is considered an optional event. We ask that graduates and families car pool to this event when possible to help with parking concerns. There will be a livestream of this event on Boxford Public Cable and the Masconomet Regional School District website.

Graduation will take place on Friday evening at 6 PM under the tent in the stadium. We will celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2022. This is a required event and students will wear their full graduation regalia (caps, gowns, and cords) to this event. Students are required to arrive at school at 5:00 PM. There will be a livestream of this event on Boxford Public Cable and the Masconomet Regional School District website.

The last chance to sign up for the all night grad party is June 1st. Find the link below in the TTC updates!

Senior Internship Fair

The Senior Internship Fair was held in person for the first time in three years. This was my first time attending this event and I was impressed by the diversity of the experiences. I want to thank all of the mentors who provided guidance to Masconomet students along the way and ensured that the projects were completed for the event. My thanks to Ms. Dinardo who kept students on track and organized the community event. My thanks to our building operations team who contributed their time to the set-up and clean-up as well.

Masco Ultimate Frisbee

The Ultimate Frisbee team has found themselves in a rebuilding year with only two returning members who have played Frisbee competitively. The new members have delivered on honing their technique and they are having a great year. The team entered the Pioneer Valley Invitational tournament held in Northampton MA at the Oxbow Marina as the 16th ranked team out of a field of thirty-seven. After some close pool-play games Masconomet was placed in the 9th place bracket on Sunday. In the first game, Masco upset 10th ranked Forest City, from Maine. This placed Masco against a very strong Concord-Carlisle team. Concord-Carlisle led for most of the game, but Masco finished the game strong with some excellent defense and a deep huck (a long pass; often nearly the full length of the pitch and high to a tall player in the end zone) to win the game 7-6. The two upsets pitted Masco against Needham for ninth place. The Needham squad gave Masco a great game and although Masco lost 10-5, Masco finished as the 10th place team!! Congratulations to the team and new coaches!

Final Exam Conflict Exams

The final exam schedule is now posted. With the final exam published, it has come to my attention that there may be family obligations in conflict with the published exam schedule. Any request to move an exam or take an exam late, needs to come through my office using this google form. No Semester exam will be administered prior to June 17, 2022, the official start of the exam period. However, I am willing to work with you if there is a conflict that can be resolved within the final exam schedule (June 17 - June 23). If we are unable to find a time during the exam period we can work to find a mutually agreeable time to complete the exam during the summer. The first two summer make-up dates will be Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28 at 9:00 AM. Please know, any student who does not complete their exam before June 23, 2022 will likely have an incomplete until school resumes in August.

Students who have filled out the form have received an email from me indicating possible solutions to the conflicts.
