Principal's Message....
For the month of November RCES will be celebrating kindness. Our mission at RCES is to find two ways to be kind each day. Research states that kindness changes the brain when we experience kindness. Children and adolescents do not learn kindness by only thinking about it and talking about it. Kindness is best learned by feeling it so that they can reproduce it. We are asking families to participate in our November mission to be kind. At home please discuss and model ways to be kind by helping others in need, being a good friend, including others, giving compliments, and showing gratitude. Click here for an article on 25 Totally Cool Random Acts of Kindness.
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. ~Aesop
Adventures are the best way to learn! Yours begins at RCES!
Thank you!
I would like to thank the Braidwood Fire Department for allowing us to visit the Fire Station and learn about fire safety. I also want to mention that not only did they provide an awesome kid-friendly presentation, they were also more than willing to come to us when the weather wasn't ideal for a walking field trip. Thank you BFD!!
I would also like to thank FORCES for sponsoring our staff dinner during conferences and the Halloween Fun Fair. We appreciate everything you do for us at RCES!

RCES Annual Penny Drive
This month we will be collecting for two different charities.
During November and December we will be collecting for our Annual Penny Drive. Loose change will be collected for those in our community who could use a helping hand during the holiday season. All donations will be given to the Family Care Program and used to purchase clothing, food, and gifts for local families in need. Our Penny Drive will run from November 1st -December 13th.
Please give as you are able. Every penny counts.
This will be a grade level competition. The grade level that collects that most will have a penny party at the end of the collection.
Scholastic Pajama Drive
WHAT TO DONATE: • Brand-new pajamas in all sizes, from newborn to adult. • Pajamas must be a complete set—either a top and bottom or onesie. • Pajamas for all seasons!
A good night— for a good day! For every pair of pajamas donated, Scholastic Book Clubs will donate a brand-new book to Pajama Program to give to kids who are affected by instability. The PJ collection bins are located by the RCES office. We will be collecting pajamas until November 26th.
