Fieldtrip - Downtown Public Library

Around 50 Warren Central students, from Mrs. Currier's class, traveled to the downtown public library to see the distinguished author, Elizabeth Acevedo. She wrote The Poet X and The Fire Within. She is also a spoken poet and a rapper. In 2019, she has won the Carnegie Medal and the National Book Award, both for The Poet X. They listened to her speak for about an hour and then she signed the students’ books that the library foundation gave to them. It was an amazing field trip and we are so grateful that the students got to go!

SIOP Teacher Leadership Academy

A few of our teachers attended the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Leadership Academy. The purpose of the SIOPLeadership Academy is to advance teacher leaders in the area of academic achievement for all students, especially English Learners. The SIOP Leadership Group will enhance teachers’ understanding of research-based and validated instructional models that are effective in addressing the academic needs of students.

American Voices

Mrs. Ruggs' students were recently on the unit "American Voices". After reading the selection, "A Quilt of a Country", her students were given an extra credit assignment to complete a quilt that represents their American identity.

MSD Warren Township Strategic Planning

This fall, MSD of Warren Township will be creating a comprehensive strategic plan based on community input that will ensure all students and staff have the conditions necessary to develop and apply Journey of a Graduate (JoG) skills and dispositions. The Journey of a Graduate skills are a set of 6 skills and dispositions that have been identified by our community needed for success in and out of school. The JoG skills are Critical Thinking, Citizenship, Communication, Collaboration, Content Knowledge, and Resilience. These JoG skills will serve as the foundation of the district strategic plan.

One way the district will capture community input is through an online survey. CLICK HERE to complete a short survey that will ask questions around our strengths as a district and help us identify areas for improvement.

Town Hall Meetings will also be scheduled for our teachers, students, parents and community to collaborate in person. Elementary school Town Hall Meetings will be hosted by their feeder intermediate and middle school. Those meeting dates are below:

  • Monday, October 21st, 6:00 - 7:30 at Raymond Park Intermediate and Middle School
