Second Semester Lockdown Drill Letter
Dear Bulldog Families,
On April 25th, we held our second semester lockdown drill as required. We had shared earlier this month that we would be conducting our second semester drill prior to the end of April.
The planned lockdown drill was conducted in combination with Gold Hill Elementary School. As with our first semester drill, TCPD assisted and evaluated our processes. Overall, we were very pleased with actions of ours staff, students, and faculty. It is evident that the more we practice these types of drills, the better our responses will be in the event of an emergency. With the ever increasing amounts of violent acts in the world today, we feel it is important to increase our level of preparation.
Thank you for understanding the importance of conducting these types of drills. And, thank you for continuing to discuss the purpose behind these drills with your children.
Yours In Education,
Christine V. McNeil

Silver Award Project - Create 100 Craft Kit Bags for Children in Levine's Children's Hospital
Dear GHMS Families,
Our Girl Scout Troop 2239 is working on our Silver Award by partnering with Levine Children’s Hospital. We want to create Craft Kits to help entertain children staying at the hospital.
Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, sees about 150 patients a day. They treat everything from minor injuries to major medical conditions. The average stay is about a week and children can become very bored.
Our troop hopes to help distract the children from their medical procedures by providing bedside crafts. Our goal is to collect craft items to create 100 Craft Kit Bags. You can help by donating the following items from April 22 to June 5:
- Play Dough (small size)
- Crayons
- Washable markers
- Plastic beads
- Decorative beads
- Alphabet beads
- Stretch cords
- Stickers
- Coloring/Activity books
All items can be dropped off at the GHMS media center. Please contact Mrs. Michael, michaelw@fortmillschools.org if you have questions or concerns.
Thank you,
GSHNC Troop 2239
