Teens with mental illnesses are overlooked and seen as acting "young and stupid".
It is usully when the teen becomes an adult and the brain cannot mature properly that a mental illness is usually noticed.
Most mental illnesses first appear when the teen brain is developing. A majority of mental health professionals find it difficult to diagnose, let alone, treat mental illness in adolescents.
In the family
Mental illnesses can cause behavioural issues within teenagers, and is often a burden on the parents who don't know how exactly to deal with their child's behaviour.
