Celebrating Miss Lauren Birge...Most Inspiring - Gompers 2020
Team Gompers
I hope this late Tuesday message finds you well.....
The end of the year always brings about such a time for celebration....and through it all have sooooooo many great students that it always brings a smile to CELEBRATE them and their accomplishments.
It brings me great joy to celebrate Ms. Lauren Birge, Gompers Most Inspiring Student for this year. She was nominated by her middle school teachers as an exemplary model of inspiration. When I asked her about what is an inspiring person? Her response, "Someone who is outgoing helps others by putting them first and is considerate in all interactions, which is what I try to be".
Additionally, I had the wonderful pleasure of contacting our 4 Valedictorians this year...pure delight and joy for the young ladies and the young men were cool on receiving the news and said "oh yeah, I was expecting it": Sherwin Donor, Aldo Echevarria, Chelsea Huerta, and Samantha Velez.
Class of 2020 Rocks, they are beaming with pride...masks and all upon receiving their celebratory yard signs! Thanks Ms. Lucio and Ms. Serna for handing them out in the sun!!
Lastly, I will end the week continuing to celebrate our GFS: Going Green Student of the Month recipients "virtually", 5/29 @ 9:30am.
As shared last week:
We will have EOY Reflection and Growth Metings. These meetings typically are more quantitative with analysis of student data sets, however, this year the questions are more reflective and qualitative in nature. The meeting signup times along with the google form to complete have been shared with you and also embedded here for easy access:

Google Form to complete prior to the meeting:
*Critical Parent and Teacher Surveys: As we prepare for various options for the next school year, it’s critical that we receive feedback from teachers and parents this year. Please encourage the families in your class to complete the surveys. Teachers we also need for you to complete the survey as well. If you have somehow missed the survey letter that was emailed from the district, please look for the email from Long Beach Unified that should have arrived last Thursday, or feel free to use this link to access the letter.
*Face Masks on Campus: Please be mindful of wearing a Face Mask when on campus. To assist you with understanding the need and the guidelines when wearing a Face Mask, please see the information from the City of Long Beach.
Have a great week #GATORNATION .......let's finish STRONG!!!
Respectfully,
Dr. Miller
