EMMETSBURG DISTRICT MISSION
The Emmetsburg CSD believes we will create an environment of promoting growth and serving others.
Kindergarten Readiness
Kaitlin visited the Readiness room in February to share some of her pets with us. We had a chance to see her corn snake, turtle, salamander & Guinea pig. She talked with us about what makes a good pet.
3rd Grade
Third graders enjoyed pancakes and pajamas as a celebration for reaching their class goal.
4th Grade
Fourth graders recently built skimmer boats to wrap up a science unit. Winners from Mr. Swanson's class and Mr. Zeigler's class competed to see who made the best skimmer boat overall.
2nd Grade
Second graders cheered loudly for our E-Hawk wrestlers at state! They also have been enjoying science right now. They worked to solve the question: Which candy will melt in the hot water? They also worked to build a structure in science using twenty index cards and sixteen paper clips. The one pictured was the champion for supporting 28 books!
1st Grade
First grade has been having lots of fun in February! They were able to zoom with the author, Angela Johnson and given her book. This was provided by UNI. They celebrated Ground Hogs Day and Valentine's Day! They have been working on playing some games to build relationship skills during our Kindness Week. Josie, the therapy dog from the high school, even came to visit!
Preschool
Josie, the therapy dog from the high school, also visited preschool. Miss Jadyn talked about her job as a counselor and Josie's job as a therapy dog. We loved having them visit. Preschoolers visited the Nature Center and Miss Kaitlin talked with them about the difference between pets and wild animals. Dr. Jena Hauswirth from the Dental Loft also visited us. She talked to us about choosing healthy snacks for our teeth and showed us how to properly brush and floss our teeth.
Kindergarten
Kindergarteners recently celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing up as 100 year olds! They also have been working on coding some robots. They read a story and then programed a robot to follow the program they put in.
