Gingerbread Houses
It is hard to believe that it is almost Winter Break! As a sixth-grade team we like to celebrate the season by making gingerbread houses. This is an activity students have loved in the past and we are excited to carry on the tradition this year.
We usually take two days to make the houses. This year those days will be on Tuesday, December 17th and Wednesday, December 18th. We do not need volunteers, for this, but we do need donations. Below is a list of items that we would like to be donated. Feel free to donate what you can. If you cannot donate, your student will still be involved in the activity. Please have donated items to Ms. Weiss by Friday, December 13th.
Each student needs:
- 1 can of white frosting (store made)
- Candy to decorate with (see more information below)
- 1 piece of cardboard (used as the base of the house)
General Items Needed for whole 6th grade:
- Boxes of Graham Crackers
- Heavy Duty Zip-lock baggies
- Tin Foil
- Powdered Sugar
- You can always send money, but please nothing over $20. (Make checks payable to Cheryl Weiss.)
As far as the candy, we suggest that the students bring this to school on Wednesday, Dec. 18th. We like to have the students bring enough to share with the class. Students will keep enough of their own candy for their house and then we put the extra on the “candy buffet” table. It is fun to make a candy buffet for everyone to draw from. Plus, the houses are so much more creative if they have a wide variety of candy. Thank you so much for your constant support. We love your children! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
