Message from the Principal

Thank you for your continued support during difficult times. Staying open to in person learning has been possible because of the contributions of many. We appreciate those who have signed up to be substitutes and fill in when our staff is sick. I am appreciative of the extra work our staff members do to help fill in for other staff members when we don't have substitutes available and who help prepare materials for their teammates who are home sick. I appreciate your patience and understanding as you have been impacted by the covid protocols that are in place and as they have been adjusted. I feel a sense of pride at the Reed community for our collaborative efforts.

When students returned in January we did our winter benchmark testing. Teachers then held winter data meetings and have made some adjustments to our instructional groups based on that information. Overall we have increased the number of students reaching the winter benchmark (where they should be now) in reading by 9%. In math, we have increased that percentage by 21%. In both areas we still have a lot of work to do but we are seeing some good growth.

SPECIALS FUNDRAISER

Music, PE, Library and Technology will be hosting a fundraiser beginning February 8th. It will last only 1 week. There is nothing to sell or collect. It is purely a technology based activity! Look for a letter home, as well as some e-mails from Mr. Gifford. New instruments, PE equipment, books and technology gadgets and curriculum will be the outcome of this simple fundraiser. Please contact Ms. Baker (aburr@kunaschools.org) with questions.

PTO UPDATES

Hello Cheetahs!

We apologize again for postponing STEM Night. We were very excited for it. We hope to be able to hold it sometime this spring, but as of right now we do not have another date set. We’ll keep you posted.

Talent show tryouts are coming up the end of February. Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to try out February 23 and 24 after school. The talent show will be March 11 during school. We are working on an option to live stream it so parents can watch from home. More details will be coming soon.

We tentatively have our Parent University night scheduled for February 25. We will provide dinner and information about several resources that are available to our families in our community. We will let you know if anything changes.

Students should have brought home their Roaring Reader forms. These must be returned no later than April 1. We cannot accept any late forms. For students that complete all the required reading minutes, tickets will be available at the Roaring Springs will call window. No paper tickets will be sent home.

For all the latest information, find us on Facebook at “Reed PTO Kuna.”
