The Patriot Parent Connection
2020-2021 School Year: Volume 24 - Week of February 16
I cannot thank everyone enough for partnering with us during our five days of virtual instruction. The kids were amazing, and we can't wait to have them back in-person this week!
It is my sincere hope that this will be the one and only time we have to resort to school-wide virtual learning this year. The 10-day quarantine duration for all students involved in the cluster-spread expired on February 15, at the latest. We ask that everyone do their part in spread prevention in order to avoid further closures. Specifically...
- Do not send students to school exhibiting ANY symptoms related to Covid-19. This includes runny nose, congestion, coughing, headache, nausea, upset stomach, and loss of taste or smell.
- Do not send students to school who have been directly exposed to Covid-19 outside of school, especially by family members in the household.
- Encourage protective measures: mask-wearing, frequent hand-sanitizing, distancing when possible.
Sincerely,
Amanda Thrower, Principal

FAQs Related to Quarantines
Why am I notified days after my student has been exposed?
The administration begins working on contact-tracing as soon as we are notified of a positive case. Test results often come to families a day or two after the test is administered, and then we have to contact-trace 48 hours back from the on-set of symptoms. This creates several days of delay that we simply have no control over. We work as quickly as we can, but the contact-tracing process is also time-consuming, as we study classroom seating charts, take measurements in classrooms, and work with transportation for bus information.
If my child has already had Covid-19 but is directly exposed at school, does he/she have to quarantine?
No. If your student has tested positive within the last 90 days and the school has record of that positive test, your student does not have to quarantine.

General Health Precautions
- Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the building, but we encourage students to bring their own, as well.
- Our custodians will be sanitizing classrooms every afternoon. If you want to send cleaning wipes with your student to wipe down surfaces before use, please just make sure they are not bleach-based products.
- It is the expectation of staff and students to wear masks, if they are able. We want to be able to maintain face-to-face instruction all year. In order to do so, we MUST work to keep each other safe; mask-wearing is a significant part of this.
