Eating more fat should make us store more of it. You are what you eat, right? Wrong. Despite fat having more calories per gram than carbs or protein, studies show that high-fat low carb diets actually lead to more weight loss than low-fat diets.
A healthy diet needs grains, fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, and fats, oil, salt, and sugar.
These types of foods just need to come in different amounts. You need 5-7 servings of grains, 2 servings each of fruits and vegetables, 2-3 servings of meat and small amounts of oils.
LDL vs. HDL
HDL takes the bad LDL cholesterol out of your blood and keeps it from building up in your arteries. LDL cholesterol is known as bad cholesterol because it can build up on the walls of your arteries and increase your chances of getting cardiovascular disease.
To lower your cholesterol try eating healthier foods, choose more saturated fats and eliminate trans fats. Exercise most days of the week and increase your physical activity. Only drink small amounts of alcohol.
Obesity, Overweight and Underweight
The difference between being obese and overweight is your BMI. When someone has a BMI of 30 or higher is obese and if your are overweight you usually have a BMI between 25 and 29.9. Being underweight is when you have a BMI of under 18.5 or if they have a weight that is 15%-20% below the normal for their age and height group.
