August 6th is the First Day of School!
Dear Stonybrook Families,
- Good evening,
- I hope everyone had a great week. We are getting closer to our August 6th first day of school. This week we have been meeting with teachers and staff to go over classroom set up for social distancing as well as desk cleaning protocols and the frequent hand washing of staff and students. We are dedicated to having a safe school year where we continuously make lasting connections with our students and families and make up some of the lost instructional time to prepare them for the next level.

Culturally Responsive Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (CR-PBIS)
Welcome to Culturally Responsive Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (CR-PBIS) at Stonybrook Intermediate & Middle School. We have an awesome responsibility to educate your child daily. Thank you for trusting us in this process. CR-PBIS is an education initiative with the aim of creating positive school cultures where students are taught the expectations, the expectations are modeled for them, and reinforced regularly. CR-PBIS focuses on ensuring all students are aware of the daily expectations in every area of the school and what it takes for them to be successful.
The first two days of school this year, we will focus on educating your child on the importance of hand washing, social distancing, self assessing COVID-19 symptoms, and face coverings. In order to start the school year off during these unprecedented times, we will work on relationship building and closure activities because we were not able to finish out last school year.
A big focus of PBIS is rewarding positive behaviors. In the past we have handed out CORE Cash to students who are meeting our expectations each day. Instead of paper cash, this year we will be using an online banking system for the students to keep track of their money. They will have the opportunity to spend this on incentives in their classrooms.
