Christmas Candy for Soldiers

Student Council and K-Kids have offered to help volunteers for the Soldier Support Group fill 200 stockings this year for our troops overseas by donating candy to the cause. Central's Christmas Candy Drive for the Troops will run from Mon, Nov 11-Thurs Nov 21. Stockings will then be sent overseas by Saturday, Nov 23. The more candy we can provide for this project, the better!! Candy may be left on the table by the cafeteria between the dates listed above! Thanks for considering brightening the soldiers’ holiday season by donating a bag of individually wrapped candy or box of candy bars!!

Our lost and found is OVERFLOWING with lots of goodies. If your child is missing something, please stop in and check the lost and found. It is located in the cafeteria. All unclaimed items will be sent to Goodwill on November 27th.

Attendance Letters

Some of you may have received, or will receive, a letter regarding your child's attendance. These letters are sent to remind parents how many absences and or tardies a child has accumulated. Typically, letters are sent once a student accumulates five absences.

As much fun as vacation are, please illeviate from taking vacations while school is in session. When a student misses several days for vacation, then falls ill, it causes unnecessary attendance issues. When absences accumulate, this leads to attendance issues that must be addressed. Although school work can be made up, It is important to remember that the learning that occurs in the classroom when a child is absent can not be replaced.

Always call the school before 9:00 a.m. if your child is going to miss a day or arrive late for any reason. Remember, if your child is ill and you take them to see a doctor, always ask for a note for school. Have your child bring the doctor's note with them once they return to school from thier illness.

It is our goal to keep the line of communication open between home and school so we can work together to acheive what is best for your child's education.

We WON!!!

In October, the Valpariaso Parks Department sponsored the Monster Dash Race. A $500 grant, for health and wellness, was offered to the elementary school with the most race participants. Central Elementary had more participants than any other Valpariaso elementary school, therefore, we won the $500 grant!

A representative from the Parks Department and the Mayor will be at Central in a couple weeks to present Central with a giant $500 check! We are thrilled to be the receipent of of an award to advocate for our students health and well being!

Magazine Address Booklets

Please fill out the 'Reach Out' pamplets that were sent home this week. By simply filling in a few addresses, Central earns money! We have done this over the past few years and have been very successful. The money we earn helps fund programs such as Think Through Math. Booklets will only be accepted until Tuesday and students will received a prize monkey and lanyard with a completed booklet. You can also purchase magazines by logging onto and enter your school code of 2961787. These items will be sent directly to the person ordering them. All Items ordered online during the sale WILL count towards the prize program.
