Solar Energy
Solar Energy is energy obtained directly from sunlight.
- The agricultural industry has used energy from the sun in south facing livestock structures for many years
- The main benefit to solar energy is that it does not produce and pollutants
- You can save lots of money
- One of the cleanest sources of energy
- Solar energy can be used to cook
Nuclear Power
Nuclear power is use of nuclear reactions that release nuclear energy to generate heat.
- Nuclear energy does not release any gases
- It is good during rough weather conditions
- The cost of nuclear power is very cheap
- Nuclear energy is energy released from an nucleus atom
- A disadvantages to nuclear power is nuclear waste
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is the heat from the Earth.
- It's made inside the Earth
- The word geothermal comes from Greek
- Geothermal is a clean power, reliable and it has a low cost
- Geothermal energy supplies less than 10% of the world's energy
- It's sustainable because hot water can be re-injected into the ground
Hydropower
Hydropower is hydroenergy it uses the water stored in dams
- Dams can help fish and wildlife move freely around dams and between sections of the rivers
- Over 70% of Washington State's electricity comes from hydropower
- 11 states get more than 10% of their electricity from hydropower
- Hydropower prevents burning of oil or coal
- There is no waste left behind
Tidal Power
Tidal power is a form of hydropower that converts energy from tides
- Tidal energy is a type of energy that produces electricity and other forms of power through the use of water
- Is one of the oldest forms of energy
- Tidal energy is a renewable source of energy because it only uses energy from the changing of tides instead of burning energy sources
Wind Power
Wind power is power that is taking the energy from the wind
- Wind energy is an alternative energy
- It is a renewable source of energy that does not produce any pollutants
- Wind power consists of turning energy from the wind to another form or energy
- Its a clean source of energy
- Its the faster growing electricity production across the world
Wood Energy
Wood energy is energy from solid fuels to biomass
- Wood fuel can be used for cooking and heating
- Is one of the oldest energy sources
- Wood gives us an energy edge in case of a disaster
- It is a less convenient to burn than other energy sources and is bulkier and less efficient than oil and gas
- It has a low coast and it comes from a renewable natural resource
Biodiesel
Is a diesel substitute that is derived from plant oils and animal fats to extend diesel fuels
- It is usually mixed with diesel the proportion of 80% diesel and 20% biodiesel
- It is a renewable alcohol
Methane Gas
Methane gas is a component of natural gas
- It is formed when vegetable matter decomposes
- It is produced in natural settings; like marshes and swampy areas
- Methane is used most efficiently as a fuel for heating
- Methane also can be produced artificially in a device called methane digester
