PowerSchool: Please remember to periodically check your child’s grades on PowerSchool. Reminder: Teachers have between 100 and 160 students, therefore it takes time to grade assignments and post grades. We appreciate your partnership.
Team and Club Photos: Photos will be taken throughout the school day on Wednesday, February 26th. Students wear club/team shirts with dark bottoms (i.e. jeans).
If there is no club/team shirt, students are encouraged to wear a white shirt and dark bottoms.
Lost or stolen items: Please be sure your child is not bringing valuables or large quantities of money to school. Personal property is a student’s responsibility, and CMS will not be held accountable for any lost or stolen items. Please review these important reminders with your child. More information can be found in the CMS student handbook.
PE lockers: Remind your child to lock any valuables in their lockers when they are at PE class.
Bicycle, Skateboard, and Scooter Safety: Students should be locking their bicycle, skateboard, or scooter each day. Additionally, students must remember to take their bicycles, skateboards and scooters home at the end of the school day. Do not leave these items at CMS overnight or throughout the weekend. CMS is not responsible for theft or damage to these items. More information regarding bicycle, skateboard, and scooter safety can be found on page 14 of the student handbook.
MAP Testing continues: Students will wrap up MAP testing this week. This CUSD local assessment provides helpful data on student growth and needs.

6th Grade Parents:
On Tuesday, March 24th, your child will be taking part in a program called "Drug Store," which is put together by Coronado SAFE and held at the Coronado Middle School.
The role of parents in drug and alcohol education is very important. The goal of the Drug Store Program is to engage our children to critically think about making positive, healthy lifestyle choices. The Drug Store is a dramatic, experiential program that takes students on a journey through the natural consequences of poor choices with regard to drugs and alcohol. More than 300 local sixth grade students from Coronado Middle School, Sacred Heart Parish School and Christ Church Day School go through this program. This community-wide event involves more than 100 volunteers including parents, DEA agents, police officers, EMTs, lawyers, judges, therapists, ministers, and more!
There are volunteer opportunities that take place the evening before the event, as well as throughout the event the following day. Please understand that you may be reassigned to a different role depending upon the needs of the program. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding.
We need your help to make this event a success!

Messages from CMS Junior Optimists
The Junior Optimists Pasta for Pennies Fundraiser Update: OWe completed the second week, and our school has already raised over $3000! We’re looking to finish strong with our final week ending February 13th. Our goal is to raise $4,000 dollars for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The T3 that collects the most money per person will be awarded a pasta party from The Olive Garden restaurant!
To help with the collecting of donations, we have created a Pasta for Pennies page on the Counseling and Support page on PowerSchool. All T3's have a content block with the T3's own personal link added to the page. It can be found at this link: http://bit.ly/360puU3 Parents and students can donate via this link without needing to be signed into PowerSchool. To encourage online donations, any single donation of 150$ will receive a free ticket to Knotts Berry Farms. If you have questions, contact Kevin Ramirez or Matt Smith, Junior Optimist Advisers.
Junior Optimists participated in a nation-wide event called “The Souper Bowl of Caring” this last weekend. The kids went door to door asking for nonperishable food donations. This year we were able to collect 1480 items for the local food bank.
