EOG Week!
I hope all staff felt appreciated this past week. I know the PTA, community, and fellow staff members worked hard to make us all feel special. We have an awesome team that deserves all the appreciation in the world.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
This week is EOG week. 3rd-5th grade students will be taking the reading EOG on Thursday and the math EOG on Friday. The 5th graders will take the Science EOG on Tuesday, May 21st. At this point, the work has been done. We have prepared our students to the best of our abilities. Our job now is to continue to surround them with positivity so they feel supported and comfortable on test day. I know the younger grades have been paired with upper grades to supply them with notes of encouragement next week. Thank you K-2 teachers! Also, the 3-5 hallways will be decorated festively on Thursday and Friday to "pump up" students even more for their big day.
Each student counts and every moment matters!
Micro Elementary is the small school where BIG things happen...thanks to you!

Strategy #4
On the day of high-stakes tests, life can be stressful for everyone. We’re out of our normal routine. There’s a new set of directions than usual. Tensions can be high, and that can lead to negative emotions.
Our impulse might be this: “That’s the way it’s got to be. We just need to suck it up and go on.”
While that may be true at some point, we can do better — and, in turn, help students do better.
“We become more successful when we are happier and more positive,” writes Shawn Achor in The Happiness Advantage.
That’s not just sunshine and rainbows. That’s science. Doctors in a positive mood are three times smarter and more creative in their diagnoses than those in a neutral mood, Achor writes. Optimistic salespeople outsell pessimistic salespeople by 56 percent.
Think that can have an effect on student test performance?
Find ways to build happiness into the day, and your students will likely benefit.
