Weekend Snow:
Since there is some heavy snow in our forecast I just wanted to send out this reminder:
As you are aware, the School Committee voted to implement “Alternative Learning Days” instead of a school cancellation when weather keeps us from physically opening schools.
When school is closed due to weather, you will receive a phone call and an email alerting you to a school closure. The messages will also indicate if we will be implementing an “Alternative Learning Day” (ALD). When there is an ALD you and your children will need to find and complete the ALD learning assignments posted on our website. Please note, that the district will not be allowed to use this approach in the future if less than 80% of our students do not participate. Please help us make this a success by ensuring your children do their assignments.
Please help us test our system by clicking here and seeing if you can find your children’s assignment page (there will not necessarily be an actual assignment at this time).
If you have questions about the ALD system please read this Frequently Asked Questions document.
March Madness:
Throughout the month of March, we like to have a little fun at Mill Pond and designate a theme to each day of the month. For instance, today was crazy hat and hair day. The whole school, students and staff will participate on Fridays, while the rest of the week staff and faculty will take participate with students trying to guess the theme. (Should be a lot of opportunities for photo ops!!) Our Fridays are as follows...
March 8th - Grade level Spirit Day - 4th Grade - White, 5th Grade - Red, 6th Grade - Blue
March 15th - Emoji Day - Make your own emoji
March 22nd - Celebrate New Friendships DAy - Red & White or anything with a heart on it!
March 29th - Red Sox Day - First day of the season and time to show of some spring baseball spirit!
Book Fair Wrap up:
The MPPG's Scholastic book fair was a success! Thanks to everyone's enthusiasm and generosity, the parent group earned $2800 to use towards enrichment programs. In addition, the library has money to spend for new books and products, teachers and staff have new books for their classrooms, and students have many new books to enjoy at home. With the funds they raised, the student service council purchased $90 worth of books for the Goddard School in Worcester. Thank you to all of the volunteers for giving your time and making it a great week!
Annual Penny Drive for BINGO night:
We are hosting our 9th annual Penny Drive to help with our March 14th Bingo Night fundraiser. Last year we raised $365 in one week through the Penny Drive efforts! We know there have been several coin drives over the last few weeks, but we need your pennies for BINGO Night as we use them as the ‘chips’ for playing BINGO. After BINGO Night, we'll collect the pennies and add them to the total money raised.
We are encouraging students to bring in their pennies and contribute to their classroom penny container. Classrooms are competing to see who can bring in the most pennies from Monday, March 4th to Friday, March 8th. The winning classroom will be announced at the Bingo event and will be awarded a special prize. See the flyer for more details using this link.
March 11th:
Just a friendly reminder that March 11th is going to be 1/2 day of school, in case you are operating off the original calendar.
Westborough Schools are hosting a joint town-wide event for the Worcester Railers Hockey Game on this Sunday!!!! Trax even came to our school!! (See below)This is an exciting event with lots of extra opportunities. Here is the link to the flyer.

Pancake Breakfast:
Boy Scout Troop 100 is hosting its 41st Annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, March 3, 2019, from 7:30am -1pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Willow Street. This event is a Westborough tradition where the scouts are honored to serve breakfast to over 1,000 people!
As this is their only fundraiser, the Troop is working hard selling tickets and ads on the placemats to make it as successful as in past years. This breakfast enables the Troop to go on camping trips throughout the Northeast, to purchase necessary equipment, to perform community service, and to sustain an active, growing membership. For more information go to www.troop100.org
Textile Drive:
Please see the attached two forms for information about the Girls Scout Textile Recycling Event on March 16th from 9 am -12 pm, which helps promote our effort to support an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Some Calming Artwork
