New Albany High School
Bi-Weekly Update - January 3, 2022
Message from the Principal
For the start of the second semester, we will be reinforcing several critical student expectations that help create a safe learning environment that allows all students to be successful.
- Students are required to wear their E+R=O lanyard and student ID throughout the day.
- Students are required to follow the school dress code (outlined on page 46 of the handbook) specifically for the winter, hats and hoods are not be worn in the building.
- Students should arrive to class on time and remain in class for the first 10 and last 10 minutes of every period; our 10 minute rule.
- Students who leave early from school and do not have an approved opt out on their schedule must sign-out in the welcome center.
Looking forward, registration for the 2022-2023 school year will begin this month with our curriculum night on January 31st from 6:00-8:00pm in the HS/MS cafeteria. Our high school curriculum night is an opportunity for all students and families to meet with our staff to discuss future course options. There will be presentations from our school counselors and the opportunity to talk with many of our teachers to answer your questions so that our students can make better informed choices about their schedule next year. More information about this event and our registration process will be sent in the next couple weeks.
We are all excited to welcome our students back for the second semester, tomorrow.
Thank you,
Mr. Kraemer
2nd Semester Attendance/Tardies
If a student is late for their assigned arrival to school, they are to report directly to the Welcome Center, MUST sign in, and receive a tardy slip. Below are some friendly reminders about attendance records.
- Arriving within the first half hour of the school is considered a tardy.
- Leaving within the last half hour of the school day is considered an early dismissal.
- Per House Bill 410, ALL tardy and unexcused absence time will accumulate towards total absent hours.
Tardies will be tracked on a weekly basis and consequences for tardies to school for the 3rd 9 weeks are as follows:
- 2 tardies in a week- After School Detention
- 3 or more tardies in a week- Two After School Detentions
- Excessive weekly tardies could result in a Saturday School.
NOTE: Detentions will be assigned via email and excessive attendance issues will result in a conference with administration.
We appreciate your continued efforts in getting to school and class on time.
