Forest Grove Falcon Update
August 11, 2022
Message From the Principal
Dear Forest Grove Families and Staff,
We have had a wonderful first week of school. Go Falcons! Staff and students are family and are supporting and helping each other every single day! We have began testing and will be looking at the results of the tests soon after to support each and every child.
Our focus continues to be on cultural proficiency and equity as measured by academic growth; access; well-being; and a prevailing sense of safety and belonging. Our goals for the year support the overarching goal of equity.
Goals 1 and 2 - Instruction
English Language Arts and Mathematics - student learning focused on growth
Goal 3 - Visual and Performing Arts
All subjects are supported twice a month - engagement, access and understanding
Goal 4- Social and Emotional Supports
Schoolwide and throughout the day - education: coping skills, social interaction and peer support
Goal 5- Maintain School Safety
Safety Awareness - See Something; Say Something
On the following pages, please find important information for the new school year.
1, 2, 3...Go Falcons!
Yours in education,
Irene Preciado
Principal

School Safety Procedures
Although we are allowed to have all of our students back on campus, California Department of Public Health guidelines require some safety measures remain in place. Here are some of the procedures we will follow for the coming school year.
All students and staff are highly recommended to wear masks.
Mask wearing is optional during outdoor activities.
Only essential volunteers will be allowed on campus.
Parents will not be allowed to walk their children to class. We will have staff available to assist students.
Students will clean their hands upon arriving and leaving classrooms.
Doors and windows will be open to allow for maximum air circulation.
Class groups will be able to mix.
If the district’s COVID Safety Plan is updated, we will keep you informed.
DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP YOUR STUDENT
We would like to thank all of our parents for driving safely during our drop off and pick up times.
Here are a couple of reminders that will keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible before and after school
Remember the green zone is only for dropping off and picking up your student.
You should never leave your car to walk a student into school if you are in the green drop off zone.
Always pull as far forward as possible in the drop off/pick up zone.
Always park in the designated areas if you want to walk your student to the gate or need to come into the office.
Parking is available on Congress Avenue and also off of Forest Lodge Road, above our campus at the PGHS parking lot there are many spaces available.
Most importantly, stay patient, be alert, and drive carefully.
Thank you so much.
School Attendance
3 Ways to report absences:
*ParentVUE app
*Attendance line (831) 646-6559
*Email: fgattendance@pgusd.org
If we have not heard from the parents to report an absence, an automated system will call and send an e-mail to let you know your child is not in school.
Please make sure we have your current phone number and e-mail address on file.
Important Reminders:
* Parents/Guardians may verify student illnesses up to 14 days throughout the school year before a note from a doctor/clinic is required, including students who arrive at school after 9:15 a.m. for an illness/medical appointment or for an all-day absence for illness or medical appointment – or combination thereof. Each subsequent absence (15 or more) requires a note from a doctor/clinic.
*Any students arriving late to class are considered tardy. Students arriving to school more than 30 minutes late or students leaving school more than 30 minutes early without presenting a valid written excuse from a doctor, dentist, or orthodontist are considered truant, and report as an unexcused absence. All students arriving late to campus must report to the office before going to class. Students leaving school must be signed out at the office by a parent or an adult listed on the student’s emergency card.
*Taking a vacation? or missing school? You can apply for up to 10 days of Family Leave with the school so that your child's absences do not count towards truancy. Forms need to be turned in to the school office at least 2 weeks prior to the missed school days. Fill out the form here
Please call the office (831) 646-6560 if you have any questions.
Mrs. Babas, Office Manager
Mrs. Pinheiro, Attendance Clerk
Please remember that your child should not carry his or her medication in their backpack. All over the counter medications, epi pens and inhalers, must be checked into the Health office with the necessary paperwork from the doctor.
If your child needs to have medicine given to them at school, please get the appropriate paperwork from the health office.
All medication must be brought to school in the original labeled container prepared by the pharmacy, doctor, or pharmaceutical company (i.e., no envelopes, foil, or baggies). The label should include the following:
Child's name
Name of medication
Dosage of medication to be given
Frequency of administration
Route of administration
Name of physician ordering medication
Date of prescription
Expiration date
Lunch Information
School meals are free for students this school year, however, we encourage you to turn in a meal application to take advantage of potential benefits for you and your family, while also helping our district. Qualifying for free or reduced-eligibility may result in discounted rates on broadband, academic tests, and athletics and may provide additional funding for state and federal programs and services in our district.
