Jan. 3rd - Jan. 6th
A glance at what's coming up for the week ahead at Cardinal Elementary.
STAFF CHALLENGE: Share one goal that you have for the new year with a friend in the building. Decide how you want to "Be There For Each Other" with that goal.
Important Upcoming Dates
Jan. 3rd - Welcome Back! Meeting at the High School (all staff in the morning starting at 7:50) Work in Classrooms (rest of the day).
Jan. 4th - No clubs. See the schedule below for Special Rotations.
Jan. 5th - FAST Window opens for winter testing.
Schedule for Jan. 4th - Early Out (NO CLUBS)
Sara Shearer and Sandy McLaughlin will be back with us on Wednesdays this quarter. Since we will miss Monday classes this week we will use the Monday early-out schedule (minus technology). Let me know if you see any issues with this plan! ;)
Cardinal Clubs - 3rd Trimester
Here are the new groupings for Cardinal Clubs. Most of the "squads" are the same with the exception of a few adjustments due to different help in the building. Students that are new to the building or new to a group are highlighted. You can also find this in the Cardinal Hub!
Cardinal Club T-Shirt Update
Thank you to all those classrooms that voted for Cardinal Club T-shirts! The votes are in and Style #3 in black is the winner! Please see the attached document to put in sizes for t-shirts. I will let you determine how you want to collect these sizes whether it be by reaching out to parents, observational data collection ;), or checking the tag on their shirt, it's up to you. Reminder that these will be used for the remainder of this year and into the next so I might suggest going a size bigger. These shirts will stay at Cardinal until the end of the 2023-2024 school year. There is a page for staff to put in sizes as well.
Staff Feedback Survey
Cardinal Team,
I have really enjoyed this first few months as the principal at Cardinal Elementary and truly value the work and kind hands that you put into all you do. In my strive to do what's best I need your input and feedback. This will help me to know some of the areas that I may need to work on and any challenges that I may need to address. Please fill out the survey below to let me know more about the bright spots and areas of improvement for Cardinal Elementary and myself as a leader.
**Cardinal Testing Window for FAST**
Jan. 5th - Jan. 20th are the dates that we have set for FAST testing at Cardinal Elementary. Please access the link below for more information about Winter testing and to put in your dates for testing. Also, let Kaitlyn know what days subs will be needed for your classrooms.
"Extra Hands"
With students being sick and having several paras that provide 1-1 support, there are times that we have "extra hands" in the building. Please make a list of students services that they could provide when this happens such as reading with a student or going through sight word or math flashcards with a students. Possibly have a tub of activities ready to go and a list of students to work with. All students would benefit from some 1-1 time or small group activities. Having something in mind ahead of time will help us to be prepared when we are blessed with these "extra hands". BE PROACTIVE! :)
Classroom Award - LiM
The focus will be on classroom behaviors. This first week back will be a great opportunity to revisit the "Cardinal Expectations" with our students. You may want to go back through the lesson plans and reteach or role-play as a good reminder.
Just in Case! - Late Start/Early Out Reminder
I wanted to remind you that the late start and early out schedules are on the specials schedule that can be found on the Cardinal Hub. With the winter weather on it's way we never know when these might be needed.
Staff Lounge Clean-Up
Sam Henningson and Andrea Dostal are our Staff Lounge Helpers this week. Next week will be Rhonda Huebbe and Heather Graham. Thanks for your help!
Cardinals "Big Rocks" from Core 3 Learning
After our day of learning on Monday, we decided as a Cardinal team that we would attempt three big rocks to promote student awareness and leadership skills. Please reach out to your CTT lead if you have any questions about our rocks!
(1) Set at least one goal with your students this year either academic or behavior.
(2) We will host Student "INVOLVED" conferences in spring 2022. All students will have an active role (listening or speaking) in the conference.
(3) Students will be encouraged to have "accountability partners" within morning meetings focused on relationship building and kindness to others.
