PSSA Saturday School Tutors Wanted: Are you interested in serving as a PSSA Saturday school tutor for the months of February and March? If so, please email Ms. Tyler.
Global Excursion Staff Chaperone Meeting: Are you interested in serving as a Chaperone for any of this year's Global Excursions? If so, please attend a mandatory 30 minute meeting, hosted by Mrs. Blanding-Choice, which will take place directly after PD this Wednesday.
NEHS and NJHS: Nominations for National Junior and Elementary honor societies will start soon. Please be diligent in giving information to scholars and families and nominating scholars who meet the criteria.
Teaching and Learning Corner
Kudos to a strong intentional start last week! Let’s continue to be consistent in our work, giving our scholars the high quality instruction they deserve.
PSSA: This week’s half-day Wednesday will launch our PSSA “You Can Do It” campaign. If you are interested in helping organize pep rallies and school-wide competitions, stay for the 30 minute committee meeting in Ms. Snyder's office on Monday.
Weekly Look Fors:
Instructional: Mini-Lessons: Hook & Skill Focus: In Ms. Tyler’s professional development on the keys to a successful mini-lesson she focused on 8 components. This week’s look for will focus specifically on Hook and Skill. Ensure that each mini-lesson builds the momentum by hooking scholars into the lesson through an activity, question, or image. Ensure that each lesson focuses on one specific skill or concept that is taught and practiced explicitly.
Cultural: Restoratives: As a next step to the strong norms reset, continue to build relationship and teach socio-emotional skills through your circles curriculum. This week’s look for is to see classrooms practicing the skills from circle throughout the rest of the day, referencing back to those lessons when necessary.

Kudos Corner
- Kudos to Mr. Copeland for the great work that you are doing with GLA's Saturday athletics. The gymnasium was packed with spectators on Saturday all supporting our boys and girls basketball teams. We would also like to recognize Ms. Tellis for leading concessions and all coaches for your hard work and dedication - Ms. Mackey, Mr. Montgomery, Ms. Leonard, Ms. Jordan and Ms. James.
- Kudos to Ms. Davis for making her environment welcoming for scholars and emphasizing a growth mindset.
Kudos to the entire CA Academy for a very strong start and first full week back! A special kudos to Ms. Simpson and Ms. Johnson for stepping in with high expectations. Team, you did a excellent job of supporting their transition.
