KAES Keenections
The weekly newsletter for Keene Adventist Elementary School
March 29, 2024
Happy Easter!
On the roof?
This week we (or I) had one last step to finish out our fundraiser- a campout on the roof of the school. While settling down I was able to share a bedtime story and a worship thought with our students through Facebook. I even had some pre-bedtime visitors as the sun began to set. The most common question was- How was it? All I can say is that it was cold BUT, well worth it to celebrate everyone's hard work. It is amazing what can be achieved when we all work together. Thank you again for supporting KAES.
Apr. 8, 2024 Eclipse
We are only a week away from this unique experiences. I know there is a lot of talk about what it will be like, the actual event and all the people. We are planning to have school on Monday the 8th. We want it to be a learning experience for our KAES kids. Teachers have already began teaching about it in the classrooms.
Each class will be doing different activities and I encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher and follow their newsletters for specific classroom details. KAES will provide proper eclipse viewing glasses for every child and the teacher will go over safety and proper use of them. Classes will also be making pinhole projectors and other means to view the eclipse. We invite families to join us for this special experience. For KAES the eclipse will start at 12:22 and end at 3:01 with totality from 1:39-1:43pm.
We understand that everyone has a different situation and different feeling of concern. Some of you may choose to stay home, and others may be attending other eclipse events elsewhere and some may choose to be at KAES with their class. Even though this day is a school day KAES will be flexable and work with your needs.
We understand that traffic will increase on this day and we encourage parents to be prepared for delays getting to and from school. KAES will also make sure we have the staff available to monitor an increased number of students for after school care.
It is time to enroll for the next year
It is time to register for next year. Registration is now open for everyone. Tell your friends and neighbors. Families who complete their registration by April 30 will receive a $100 discount on registration. Discount will only be given if all paperwork is completed and registration fee is paid by April 30.
ACE Scholarships are partial tuition, intended to provide added assistance for lower-income families that desire to enroll their child in a private school. Standard ACE award amounts are $2,000 for K-8 and $3,000 for high school, and no greater than 50% of private school tuition, yet may vary dependent upon unique circumstances. Families are responsible for working out a payment plan with the school for the remainder of the tuition.
Make sure your account is current before class trips.
Parents and guardians,
In the months of April and May we have a lot of amazing learning opportunity experiences through overnight trips. Please take note that if your account is not current your child will not be allowed to participate. Please contact Mrs. Turk, our KAES treasurer, if you have any concerns about meeting this requirement.
CTA Academy Days
If you are a parent of an 8th grader, please note that this Wednesday April 3, will be CTA days. 8th grade students will spend the day experiencing what it will be like to attend CTA. This is a great opportunity and a fun experience.
