July Newsletter
Solstice
But it won't be quiet for long. One look at our July calendar will show you that things are about to heat up around here. In addition to our Libraries Rock summer reading programming, we are making good use of our Great American Read grant from PBS: Local English professors will be leading books discussions to help us get the most out of some traditional and modern classics. You can join the Mill Valley California Public Library's Literary Pen Pals program for thoughtful long-distance book discussions- with the bonus of getting and writing real letters. Sign up for book groups and pen pals at the desk. You can learn more about the Great American Read and what's going on at local libraries when you visit our Pop-Up Voting Booth and Library Information Station at local events throughout the summer.
And don't forget our Museum Pass program. Lots of people have already taken advantage of this opportunity to visit popular local attractions for free or reduced prices.
A couple of late June events are also worth mentioning: On Wednesday, June 27th at 5pm, we'll be holding a session of the very successful Libraries Mean Business program. If you or anyone you know is looking to improve their presence on the web, this free class will get you started. On Friday, June 29th from 5:30 - 8:00 pm, we will be hosting an Open House Brain Storming session to get some bright ideas about how the library will look and function in the future. There will be pizza and beverages. Drop in for a few minutes or stay for the whole evening.
We love connecting with our community and hope that, amidst all the business of summer, you'll take advantage of some of these opportunities. Of course, we also have that beach read and audio books for the long car rides!
