Important Information
On September 15th 1963, a bomb had exploded before service on Sunday morning. This church was a church with a black congregation, that church was used as a meeting place for the civil rights leaders. Four young girls were killed in the bombing, but many more people were injured. After the bombing took place there were a lot of upset, angry black protestors. Most of the protestors were arrested. One of the men got shot by a white officer. Outrage of the death of the four girls helped build increased support behind the continuing struggle to end segregation.
