Transition to the Junior High

We will keep this section in the newsletter to share information about transition to the Junior High.


Transition Timeline

The Junior High has begun the process of transitioning your son/daughter as a seventh grader! We are confident that the outstanding academic foundation Greene has established will carry on here at the Junior High. In addition, the Junior High has a dynamic after school life with many athletic opportunities and clubs. We look forward to your family joining our Junior High community. While the transition process is in the early planning stages, we are very excited to think about your son/daughter joining us in August!

Below are some important dates regarding the scheduling and transition process:


  • Junior High Course Planner now available online!: The 7th Grade Junior High course planner can be found on the Junior High website via the Counseling Page: Sycamore Junior High School → Counseling → Course Planner & Scheduling

  • Week of February 28th: A mailer including important scheduling information will be mailed home for Rising 7th grade students.

  • March 3rd : Rising 7th grader orientation and academic fair presentation posted on Junior High Website in the evening (can watch at your convenience)

  • March 8th,9th,10th: Junior High Counselors will meet with Greene students to complete remaining course selections.

  • Week of March 28th: Students will receive course verification sheets listing selected courses via My eBackpack.



Junior High Choir Auditions

Don’t miss an awesome opportunity to be in choir at the Junior High next year! They are looking to add many amazing 6th graders to their choirs. Students do not have to have singing experience to participate in choir at the Junior High. Deborah Stein and Jesse Callahan, SJH choir directors, will be visiting our 6th grade choirs and General Music classes in the next couple of weeks to provide more information and audition the students. Interested 6th grade students who are NOT in general music/choir this year should audition on Thursday, February 10th from 3:00-3:30 in the choir room at EH Greene. Students should have transportation to pick them up at 3:30. Please join our Google Classroom for other important announcements and information about enrolling in choir. World Language

HERE is a letter about the World Language class at the Junior High.

CogAT test results

For students who took the CogAT test last month (6th graders and any 5th grade student by parent request), please make note that your child's CogAT results will be uploaded in your child's e-Backpack on Parent Portal (this is the same place where you find your child's report card) on Monday, January 31st at 4:00 pm. Please see the attached letter for more information. Thank you!

It's time to order a Greene School yearbook!

Lifetouch will be producing the 21-22 Greene School yearbook and now is the time to order!

This year, all orders will be done online at ybpay.com. The site is ready for you to place your order and you will need to enter this ID code: 14499722. The cost of the yearbook is $17.00 and it will feature a sturdy soft cover with all color pages. The deadline to order is March 12, 2022.

Lost and Found

We want to update you on lost and found. Our wonderful students have been working hard on this project. They have reunited items with students if there were names on them. More items will be added soon. Per our handbook, all items from the lost and found were donated over Winter Break.


They are also building the catalog of lost items. Each item will have a number. So far, students have cataloged about 100 items! You can view the items HERE. If you recognize something, HERE is a form you can use to claim it.

Author Visit - Gordon Korman Books to be Signed

If you have ordered Gordon Korman Books or if you have previously purchased your own and you want to have them signed by him, please complete the "Author Visit and Book Signing" form that went home with students earlier this week. Please turn in the form to the homeroom teacher by Friday, February 4th.

Flight Crew

Mr. Graulty and the Flight Crew have been working hard to continue to support and model "a school environment where all students wake up inspired to learn and return home knowing they did their best at the end of the day". These past few weeks, the students worked to make a video to share with students and parents with an inspirational and positive message. You can view the video here!

Attention Registered Nurses

The Sycamore Community School District is currently looking for registered nurses who would like to be employed as substitute nurses. Applicants must have current nursing experience, preferably with children, special needs, diabetes and an active nursing license.

Reporting a COVID related absence

Thank you for your patience as we navigate COVID at EHG. To report your child's absence due to a positive test, symptoms or recent exposure call 513-686-1707 option #1. You can also go online and report their absence by clicking on the link below. Thank you for your help with this matter.

Attention: Parents of 6th Grade Students

Two immunizations are required by the state of Ohio (ORC 3313.67) before the start of 7th grade. Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis booster) and Meningitis (MCV4). Your child may already have had them at their 11 year old check up. If so, please obtain a copy of those immunizations. If not, please make an appointment for your students to get these two immunizations. Once you have obtained copies of TDAP and MCV4, send them to Laurie Dobrowolski RN at E.H. Greene Intermediate School.

Adapt for Life Parent Information Night

Through grant funding, Sycamore has partnered with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to launch a mental wellness program in our schools called Adapt for Life. To provide more information about the Adapt for Life program, the district is offering a Virtual Parent Information Night on February 8, 2022, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.


We are asking parents to register in advance and indicate the grade level of their child in order to better customize the information session to the audience. Please also submit questions or topics you would like our speakers to cover during the session. A Zoom link will be emailed to registrants. Click here to register.

Student-to-Student Forum

Does your 5th-9th grader want to know more about Sycamore High School? Who better to share that information than current senior (and a few junior) Aviators? The 18th annual student-to-student forum is designed to do just that! A panel of selected students share their unique experiences at SHS regarding academics, the Synnovation Lab, athletics and extracurricular activities during this virtual question-and-answer session. Are you interested in becoming a Substitute teacher?

Parents, we have a need for substitute teachers!! If you would like to become a substitute teacher for Sycamore and work at Greene, we would love to have you! Please feel free to contact Mrs. Dennemann at dennemannm@sycamoreschools.org if you have any questions.


To get started, please click here to learn how to apply for a substitute teaching license. You do not need a teaching degree, but you will need a bachelor's degree. All of our classroom substitute teachers are employed by the Comprehensive Substitute Solutions of Hamilton County and the Clermont County Educational Service Centers. Thank you!
