PRIDE
On January 23rd we will reorganize PRIDE in response to our current academic data. Students will be moved based on their grades in all courses as of January 19th. From the parent perspective here is what you need to know:
PRIDE is not really changing. What we have done is better design our existing classes to address the specific needs of our students. The result is that a student will receive more or less support based on their academic grade. For example, a student with a current D or F, will receive support on goal setting, planning, and organization, while a student with an A or B would not be required to complete the same process. However, the A/B student would still have the time and space to complete homework and receive assistance as needed.
The most common issue we talk to our students about is the ability to take control of their own situation and thus control the outcome. Often when adversity hits, 12-14-year-old students are unsure of how to respond, feeling like there is nothing they can do. Our goal will always be to support our students through these inevitable struggles while providing them with, and showing them how to use, tools that they will need in HS, College, and beyond.
Thanks for supporting us in this endeavor.

Guidance Counselor News
At Middle School East, we are always trying to utilize technology to better improve the student experience. For this reason, we have added the Bullying Report Form for the district to the guidance website to make it easier for students to be able to fill out in a more anonymous way. This will allow the students to fill out the form in the comfort and security of their own home with their parent or guardian. This form is set up with notifications so that it will notify the school counselors upon the completion of the form.
Also available is a school counselor sign up form. The school counselor will be notified at the completion of this form as well.

FTCSC School Board
As most Franklin Township residents are aware, our school system is currently searching for a new superintendent. The school board would like to have your input. There will be a public meeting on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the administration building.
At this meeting participants will be given the opportunity to be informed of the criteria for choosing our new superintendent. The meeting will be conducted in a small group format. During these groups, you will be given the guidelines that will be used to select our new leader, and have the opportunity to provide input on the characteristics that you envision
the next superintendent would have. Those guidelines are based on the Franklin Township Community School Corporation's Strategic Plan. Following are the four aspects of that plan:
- Academic Excellence and Learning - Creating the best possible environment to nurture academic potential
- Budget and Operational Systems - Being fiscally responsible
- Governance and Communication - Focusing on informed communication
and decision making
- Climate and Culture - Promoting effective and positive relationships among staff, students, parents, and community
These are all strengths that we will be looking for in our new superintendent. We look forward to seeing you the 23rd.
